I have an old 1967 zip code directory, and it lists 96950 as Saipan. It is an island in the western Pacific. We had an air base there after we captured it from the Japanese in WWII.

For some reason I'm thinking that Saipan is a city in Taipan. It rings very familiar from the last time I was traveling in the Western South Pacific.

You'll need a customs slip even though it has a zip code. On Priority Mail there is extra cost for destinations beyond a certain distance and 6 pounds or more ( Guam is that way and these island are further away ).
