Have you ever noticied how well newbies do when they post auctions. A few price themselves out of the market ~ but I have been looking around and most do very well and have a majority of things end with bids.

When I first started out, most of my stuff ended with bids and I made money at it. I remember as a newbie being scared to bid with someone with a high feedback and it took me 3 months to figure out what a power seller was ~ and again they really scared me too. I was new to Ebay and not sure of all the rules ~ just did not know what to do and what was the wrong thing to do. I loved dealing with other new people ~ after all they were in my boat too.

To make a long story short, I am now a powerseller with over 1200 feedback ~ and I am thinking of starting over with a new id and seeing if it will do the same in the beginning as my first id did.

Has anyone else tried this? Tell us all what happened if you did.

You don't have to start over with a new ID. Just open a new ID and compete with yourself to see if your new ID will outperform your old one. You didn't say what the feedback rating is for your power seller ID. Is it in trouble now? If not there should be little difference.

No ~ Up and running just fine ~ 3 negs to over 1200 positives. I rarely sale the same item twice. I have listed a few things this morning under my bidder id ~ we will see what hapens.

Sometimes newbies start out with some great merchandise - they haven't had to hunt all over to find unusual things. They may be selling off their personal collections and of course sometimes they're not newbies at all.

I try to keep my main selling ID at around 300-500 feedback. It's been around awhile but it's still low enough that people think that they'll get personal service and an answer to their emails. I usually build an ID up to around 50 before I use it as a seller's ID.

I guess I am just a suspicious type of person, but FWIW a very well done auction with a low feedback looks suspicious to me. Awhile back I came across a tool auction that was very well done. They had beautiful templates, a very well thought out TOS, and everything was very professional looking, but they had no feedback. I thought it was strange that a newby would be so knowledgeable so I did a little digging and finally turned them and three other UserIDs into ebay for shilling.
On the other hand I do agree too high of a feedback (in the 1000's) makes me wonder if the seller provides any customer service.

I have noticed the same thing about newbies. I know I don't do as well as I did when my feedback was below 100. Something about a "person to person" transaction, is what I am thinking.

I know when I see the word "Powerseller" I think that it's somekind of large business, where a lot of wholesale things are posted and it isn't the same as buying something from someone who is putting things up from garage sale finds or out of their own personal stuff. Unique things that you can't find wholesale or retail.

When this started for me, back a few years, it was fun to see what everyone had. Kind of like being invited into the person's attic or basement to poke around. I just don't get that same feeling when I am dealing with a "Powerseller".

Just my two cents.
