I am sitting at (498) feedback, I think this weekend I will finally get my puple star. I think I will throw a party. It took me almost three years selling part time. Now, if I can just get 2 more!

I hear ya.. once I hit 400 - things have SLOWED down to the point where each point is a milestone.. up to 443 now - but did have good sales this past week that SHOULD get me to 450 if buyers will cooperate.. *pray*

It amuses me that the colored star system gets us all hyped up. Like a smiley face on a grade school test paper. It has no monetary value, confers no extra benefits, and yet we all do a happy dance when the color changes on our star. ME INCLUDED. I see it as representing a lot of hard work on the part of the Seller or lots of shopping on the part of the Buyer, but it is also a smart marketing tool for eBay. I know I'd never stop at 499 or 999. I'd have to go for the next star, which means more business for eBay.

I'm not knocking the system...I just find it funny that I'll be thinking about Bevhead this weekend and hoping he/she gets those next 2 feedbacks for the Purple Star. I'm standing by to type WTG! Bevhead is a perfect stranger, yet I feel a definite comaraderie and have e-mail on so I don't miss the announcement. I draw the line at biting my nails over this, but otherwise I'm there for you, Bev!

I can relate...I am sitting at 460 now, and it is so sloooooow trying to reach 500! It seems that only about half of my customers leave fb (

Good luck, y'all...hang in there!

I was at 499 for 7 days, I went to sleep with it 499 and woke up with it at 503. I did the happy dance! I was so hyped up on reaching 500 that I was a little let down when I saw 503!

I am way over a thousand with my two id's combined, but I want 1000 on one of them soon. I was stuck at 666 for a week on one, and now have been at 777 since the 2nd of this month. At this rate it will be Christmas or later before I get my purple star. I obsess about this kind of thing way too much.

As a relatively new seller its nice to know that I am not alone in fretting about the color of my star or the amount of feedback that I receive.

I used to give positive feedback right away when the buyer paid through PayPal (or whatever). Now I wait until they receive their widget & leave me feedback. Sometimes I feel like their mother telling them they won't get a cookie if they don't finish all of their dinner!

Ahhh..I was just sitting here thinking about this. I am about 45 FB's away from 500. This past week I've sent out almost 100 packages...and I've gotten FOUR FB's over it. I know people think "what's the big deal" but it's just a little self gratification to have reached that milestone. I cant' believe out of 100 items no one is leaving FB they know I'm waiting I think! I'd like to think *maybe* by the beginning week of October I can be at the 500, but we'll see. Maybe this weekend the FB leavers will be out

I'm at about 750, and it seems the more I eBay, the more of my deals go to "repeat buyers". The first 100 was fast, getting to 500 was uphill, and getting to 1000 and the "red star" is up the mountain.

Once I hit 1000 and got the red star, I was pretty excited (for a while). Now it doesn't seem that big of a deal (I'm around 2500 right now). The next star for me is the green one, but that won't come for another 2500 FB's, so no use in anticipating that one for a while. The goal is to hit that one in about 6 months. I think the next one after that is 10000. And I still remember how psyched I was at reaching 10 FB for the first star! (And I agree, a star doesn't mean a thing. It's all a game that ebay plays with us).

Sitting on 493, a sense of Joy, BUT probably even Greater RELIEF will Hit, when I Reach 500. I've been Mostly a Part-Timer (Seller) and Joined eBay 2 Years ago. I do buy my share also. I do Realize what Kind of effort and WORK it takes to Reach this Number!

It's been so long since I looked into this, but does feedback just count from unique buyers? I've at about 195 total +feedbacks, no neutrals or negs, but only about 183 unique buyers. I guess I could look it up. . . .

You'll get it this weekend, bevhead.

I also remember that the first star for 10 feedback was SUCH a big deal. Im at 903 or something, I can taste that red one. What's annoying is that I looked at how many fbs I've left, and it's 1700+! I think after the red one I won't care too much, though, 5000 might as well be the moon for me.

I notice there's a seller that is few days away from the purple shooting star () that's 50,000 feedbacks! They'll be the first to reach that level.

I should have my purple shooting star around July 28, 2176.

Me too!!! I am at 496 and wondering when 500 will hit! I have 869 f/b but lots and lots of multiple and repeats, so that doesn't seem fair somehow!

Oh well, looks like we should throw a '500' party this week-end - I hope!!

I never have pushed for feedback and it took me over 10,000 transactions to actually get 1,000 feedbacks.

Update: I am now at 499, I think it will happen today.

It is funny how much I have been thinking about it, I will post when I get it.

*L* I reached my red star a little while back. I remember HOW frustrating it was for BOTH the purple and the read fot that LAST feedback to make the change. Both times, I had a whole weekend wait. I spent who knows how much time, looking, and hoping. Come monday, for both, I finally made it. *S* I printed it out when I hit the red *G* It's going to be awhile now for any change here

When I was close to "purple".....I started buying! Look for sellers who leave good, prompt feedback who sell low priced stuff!

Now that's what you call "buying feedback"!

I'd love to get my red star, but business on half is generally more profitable. I've had well over 1200 transactions, 1100 plus on eBay alone so it isn't my fault a star is not forthcoming.

re: repeat buyers - that is my pleasant problem to have too.. I have well over 1500 total feedbacks but only 445 of them count towards my # - 71% percent return customers is a REALLY nice statistic and I'm really happy about that - but wish those additional feedbacks would count towards my rating - even if only a .25 of a point...

But I love my regular customers - its SOO nice to have a buyer that you know will pay promptly and is good to work with.
