The Taliban has expressed condemnation of this morning's attacks and denies any involvement. That may or may not be true, but it would probably be too soon to strike at them without knowing all the facts.
Posts in the Round Table speculate that the bombing in Afghanistan is not being done by us, but as a result of civil warring within the country or by someone else taking advantage of the timing.

I am ordinarily a paranoid person and sometimes just plain crazy. I have the sinking feeling we are being set up for a really big war. First you attack America and everyone will automatically blame BinLaden, then you bomb Afgahnistan (at night I might add) and of course the Americans are the first to be considered. Before the dust clears we are in a war!
I can't help but feel maybe this is retribution from the Gulf War. Afterall, we left a crazy man in power!

I don't think we are doing this, I think it's too soon for us to have retaliation planned. I do think we might be getting set up to be blamed though.
Where does the escalation stop?
Apparently there are demonstrations in Europe all over the place with people holding huge signs saying 'please no revenge' to Americans. I don't know what to think, we need to do something, but how does a country respond to something like this without making it worse?

One thing that bothers me is recalling that everyone assumed the Oklahoma bombing was international terrorism when it wasn't. I hope that the powers-that-be are able to figure out what happened before doing anything. What if one of those cell-phone calls from the planes manages to point to someone who ISN'T obviously a Middle Eastern terrorist?

keziak-I have thought of that myself! I know nobody likes "profiling" but it is done especially by the airlines! I have seen TV specials on it. Considering we are talking about 4 planes being highjacked at the same time I would imagine it would be easier pulled off by ordinary "American" looking people than foreign looking people!
I sure hope something concrete comes up pretty soon, I too, don't want to see the problem compounded by pointing fingers and I, unfortunately, am guilty of that already myself! Thank God I am a nobody!

hi sulyn1950 and keziak, yes wouldnt that be ironic, that we bomb a foreign country, or www3 breaks out, and it turns out to be done by a American terrorist, like maybe a religious fanatics (like Wacko, manson, etc)?

keziak -- American Wackos and nuts like McVey do not blow themselves up while committing violence. They run and try and save their skins. Only Arab terrorists have a history of sacrificing their lives to make a statement. Figure 4 planes with obviously more than one terrorist doing the hijacking of each and one those those with the ability to fly a large aircraft and aim it directly at the target.

World War 3 ???? With terrorists? The threat to the U.S. is not incomming ICBMs (the billions wasted on missle defense is a scam). If and when there is a World War 3, the U.S., Russia, and China will be allies fighting a nuclear threat delivered in suit cases.

I am wondering why we didn't hunt down and destroy every White Christian American Male after Oklahoma.
In a country composed of people of the world some of the things that people here are saying are nothing short of incendiary. You are lowering yourself to the level of those who are responsible for this WORLD TRAGEDY by including everyone of certain regions in your rush to condemn.
It is too early to judge and not our job.
