I have an auction that I listed on the 7th and is closing this evening. I just received the following from a potential bidder:

I have been trying to bid on your XXXX but eBay gets stuck and won't let me get to the bid site. The bid paddle isn't working either. I will keep trying but I think you should complain to eBay.

Has anyone else experienced this problem today? This person is using WebTV. Could that be the problem? I've already written to [email protected]. Is that the right place? I'm concerned because the auction is only about half of where I expect it should end. I know many people are saying that bidding is down since Tuesday (expected), so I didn't know if bidding is low on this item because of this or because people aren't able to bid.

Any ideas?

Thanks

It may not be eBay's fault exactly...what did you use to create the ad? I know I was having problems with a template I made in MS Word, which when added to eBay's site, didn't want to let bidders using Netscape into the bidding section.

I redid it by hand in the simplest HTML and everything started working fine...plus I told my potential bidders who asked about the problem to switch to Internet Explorer to view the listing, which also worked on the ads I couldn't/didn't change.

Check your HTML -- you might have an open TABLE or TD tag that is preventing Netscape and WebTV from rendering the bottom of the page. IE is a bit more forgiving and just tries to guess where you might have wanted the tags, so things may look really weird. That's why IE can see the bid entry area at the bottom and other browsers can't.

Hello bh010296

I'm a webtv user myself and a computer user as well. I checked your auctions using webtv and unfortunately I did encounter a problem trying to access the bidding form at first.

This a webtv browser problem and has nothing to do with ebay.

Tell your bidder to log off webtv and back on. this method worked for me.

Hope this helps
