If you have a like item thats up for sale in AFA and the price there is low do not list it. Do a search on your items before listing, too many there put it back on the shelf. Think about waiting a month, so folks fell better, everyday you hear of another 10,000 layoffs. Think about selling some of your rare items, if you bought low, you should be ok if you need cash flow. Use reserves with a buy it now. Better to lose $3.00 THAN SELL FOR $20 LESS THAN YOU PAID FOR IT. Be honest with yourself, dump inventory that you see prices falling use cash flow to change directions. Take a vacation. Buy at repressed prices to sell in Nov. Just a few thoughts. Please add more. Dump USPS for a FedEx account and undercut your competition on shipping costs.
Purchase a better camera. Learn to use said camera to get the best possible pictures. Don't use supersize pictures that have to be scrolled sideways. Or ones that are too small to be effective. 350-450 pixels is a good width.
Write better, more thorough descriptions. For example, saying an item is in mint condition is NOT good enough. Explain WHY it is in said condition. Describe your items as if your customer was absolutely blind...
Start your auctions at a reasonable, yet EXCITING level. Under $10. Bidders love to bid!
Don't use reserves. Remember, it's fun to bid against other buyers but not against the seller.
Run your auctions in large batches instead of continuously. You'll get better prices from multiple purchase bidders.
Offer free shipping to repeat dealer customers. They will really latch on to that and you will benefit! I know, I have three repeat dealer bidders that go back 2-4 years, and I can testify that my profit margin has increased due to their patronage. Treat them like eGold!

What downtrend?
How come every month there is a panic on AW that eBay is dying?
What's with the dooms day attitude here?
It seems like it does not matter if eBay is "up" or "down", it's always "down" at AW.
Kinda depressing (not eBay, AW).

If you actually look, we're in an uptrend.
We were in an uptrend as of 9/10.
It stopped on 9/11 (as did the world), fell sharply, but it is heading back up right now.
What downtrend?

My auctions "flat lined" on the 11th, but by the 16th they started coming back up, and this week looks real good. 3 BIN's on 3 of my better items this week, and bids of some kind on 80% of my auctions.

PACKER, I don't agree with you that "most of us do that and always have;" because, I don't see it upon searching eBay? OTOH, the small number of seller/posters here may well "do it" but the vase majority on eBay do not.
I've got a run up on eBay now and it's not looking grim, it's almost normal at this point. Actually bids have been coming in quite regular today and yesterday. Lots of ca-chinging on eBud! I'll know better when the first hundred closes in a few days.
I do expect overall sales margin to be down but I don't think it's gloom and doom. Not yet anyway, keep an eye on the news though!
