I sold an item for a penny. A whole whopping penny. Item closed and even though I had that I ship to U.S. only, I figured ok, if this person will pay the extra shipping amount to go to Canada (the person had a .ca e-mail addy) then I'd ship (it was an item I wanted to be rid of anyway). Waited and I waited, person never responded to my e-mail. I had forgot to check the box where the email account automatically saves a copy of the email in my sent email folder, so I don't have what I said, although it was along the lines of the person being in Canada and that I'd need address to find out shipping amount. I never heard from this person until after I filed NPB alert with ebay. This was his/her first e-mail to me:
I got a message from ebay about the ab roller, first of all you never
>emailed me WITHIN THREE DAYS as to your address and so on, I took it to
>mean that you did not wish to sell this item for 1 penny, and was nice
>enough not to contact ebay myself about no contact as far as I am concerned
>this transaction is nulled and void.
I responded:
I e-mailed day after it ended with contact info and questioned whether or
not you were in Canada as I saw your email addy was .ca instead of .com
because if you were in Canada I'd have to find out shipping info and cost.
You hadn't tried to contact me since the auction ended. I note your refusal
to follow through and will file for my FVF at the end of ten days. Have a
nice day.
She/he responded:
Send me a copy of that email, because i gaurantee you did not send it, and don't bother changing the date of email because i will be able to tell.
I've already wasted way too much time on a penny auction, so I'm not going to bother e-mailing the person back. When I leave the neg for this person, I am thinking of putting: "deadbeat over a penny, how low can you go??" I've always wanted to do that with one of my penny deadbeats, and this is the first one that isn't NARUed before I can leave fb (knock on wood).

Are you sure the buyer actually received your first message and ignored it?

If you do decide to contact them one more time, try including this link
http://pages.ebay.com/help/buyerguide/after-whatnow.html
Note that it doesn't REQUIRE the seller to contact the buyer in THREE days. They should know it's as much their responsibility to contact the seller as the seller's to contact them, especially if they haven't heard from the seller.
You also might remind them that your auctions state US Only and that, technically, you didn't have to honor their bid price anyway but were going to as a gesture of goodwill.
If you just want to be done w/this, then don't respond back & leave your neg but I would leave something less emotional and more factual.

Tigressoflove Is it really worth it to get the reciprocol neg for a penny???? You're making this MUCH too hard for yourself. Forget this person relist or send it to the Goodwill

I'm not sure of anything other than the bidder admitted that he/she had not wrote me and I know I never received anything before now. I know I've sent EOA e-mail, then I sent the 3 day email reminder (and included again the part of needing more for shipping since person was in Canada), then I filed for the NPB (and he/she responded then). If I wanted to get technical about it I wouldn't have had to sell to him/her anyway since I had US only on the auction, but I wanted to get rid of it.
I guess I'll stick it up for A4A since I can get the shipping back now from the billpoint.

sparkafatty! Who tinkled in your Wheaties this am?
TOL, such angst over a penny auction and threatening a neg to boot---
think positive and start your auctions a bit higher!
Have a great day! It is beautiful here in W PA this pm. Off to tend to the last of my tomatoes and peppers. And then list like no tomorrow. eBay is looking up these days.

Send them that one as proof?
Ditto it's not worth the neg or hassle...

Did you say this was an Ab Roller? I have sold about 5 of those this summer and they tend to go for around $30.00 - Unless yours was in REALLY bad shape I'm surprised it ended at a penny. I would relist it if I were you....wait a couple more days though - by then mine would have ended

File FVF? Heck, you should have thanked the bidder!
Is this a troll? Can someone really be that masochistic?

I would file for my FVF on 1¢ also. Not for the monetary reasons.. but to give them a mark against them.
3 FVF's filed against them and they are outta there. That's the main reason I file for any of my FVF's.
Perhaps you should look at the bigger picture before demeaning someone.

troubles of this sort seem to follow tiggressoflove, the originator of this thread. problem is it always is someone elses fault...hmmmm tiggress maybe you need to rethink the auction game, seems something about you or your items that attracts trouble...i am going to reccomend to the AW higher ups that they give you your own forum. in the eman time you could work out your frustrations on that ab roller, by the way was the ab roller the baby daddy's...

Hey sparkafatty-your personal questions to TOL I find a bit invading. Do you list on eBay? So--what do you do with Non paying bidders? Don't condemn or invade into someone's private life--offer some constructive answers! JMHO

I actually find the comments a bit inappropriate as well, from one single mother to another.
What happened to "no personal attacks" at Auction Watch?
