Hello,

I'm trying to print my ship labels w/del confirm for my ebay sales.

I recently refilled the ink cartridge but am not getting good print quality. Well, I've now learned not to bother saving by refilling because I'm getting terrible print quality no matter what I do (cleaned the cartridges, aligned, etc..)

Anyway, I was wondering if there was a way to print in blue with an HP 722c printer? I've tried copy and paste into Word, etc... which the copy of the label won't copy into. I've also tried to check my printer settings thinking I could just switch to a blue color. That hasn't been possible either.

I even tried changing the way text is viewed in by browser (tools > internet options > colors) but it's having no effect on the usps printing label. Oh well!

Aside from running out in the middle of the night to get another BLACK printer cartridge is there anything I can do?

Thanks for your help

Refilling is not the problem. Millions of carts are refilled every day. If you run the thing BONE dry, the little cart cleaning utility (even used several times) isn't enough to do the trick. Either print 25 pages of bold text or print a graphic with a lot of black. That might fix it. I used to refill but the price of generics is so low it isn't worth the mess to me anymore.

If you use alt-prtscrn and or ctl-prtscrn you can paste your screen in Word. One will paste the whole screen the other just the active window. You can edit the size, but this seems like an awful lot of trouble

Are you talking about the actual label print from using UPS online shipping???? You use an inkjet??? That must cost a fortune.

You do need to have good quality, otherwise it won't scan. And it's suppose to be black (which is why they have it black), so you really wouldn't want it in blue..but since that isn't text, you really can't change the color, unless you copy and paste it into PSP or another graphic program and change the color. But they prefer it black, so that wouldn't help.

I haven't done any refiling of my HP's since I have talked with so many people who have run into trouble along the way. The reason the HP's print so nicely, usually, is because the printheads are built into each cartridge (hence the expense), and when you refill, you are losing the advantage. I'm sure we'll hear from those who haven't had trouble, but it is annoying when you are the one who runs into the problems.

DeSquirrel..it uses less than a penny to print out that label..it's .07 for 15% coverage (at least my HP inkjet is), and I doubt that label is 2% coverage. Text just doesn't use a lot of ink.

Thank you for the tips and advice.

I did adjust the print properties with the manual tap and chose "dark" and "pattern". This seemed to do the trick, for now.

I really hadn't considered the cost of ink.

Printing those labels seems more trouble than it's worth. Slapping on the green DC label is much easier! Buying an HP cartridge would've been much easier too. Sometimes trying to save a few pennies just isn't worth it.
