Hi All!
Just received eMails from eBay about their Store fees!
I thought the Stores were free until Jan?
I CLOSED my ONE and only store about a month ago....yet I got MULTIPLE emails from eBay!
When I tried to close the store again..it won't allow me to!
{eBay says it is still opened!}
Anyone else having this problem?
I certainly don't want to be charged their monthly fee for something I DON'T Want.
Here's Part of the eMail:
Your free eBay store trial for XXXXX is about to expire soon.
Do nothing and keep your store.
eBay will begin billing your account a low $9.95 per month and you'll continue receiving the following benefits......
This is so typical of eBay!

Definitely close the stupid eBay Store until they add a Store search feature. The Stores are worthless for now.

i wonder if ebay has past its zenith and is becoming an old mother??
wall street praised ebay and stock went up yesterday,but some of us know better,high bid amounts keep declining,many items received no bids,powersellers losing their status as they can no longer afford to keep paying list fee when items get no bids.
there are more items which are bot at under 10 dollars,it would have to affect ebay bottomline.
someone mentioned at amzn board that some books are listed at one penny,think of how much money amzn is making from such sales??
15 % of one penny???

I received a similar email from Ebay - in fact, I received 8 of them!! (And I only have 2 ebay stores)
I don't understand either why it said my stores were going to close soon - on the AB not long ago they said the stores were going to be free until the end of the year.

There is also plenty of discussion of these emails at the eBay Stores forum. Sounds as though a large number of people got them. Although eBay hasn't responded yet, surely they will get around to acknowledging this as an error, in their own good time.

In the e-mail that they sent me, what they told me should be the link to my store is actually the link to my logo. Stupid.

I got the same e-mail for one of my stores 6 times. Items for ebay stores have been in Google search for several months now.
Edited to say that I just checked my e-mail and the URL that they give me for my store is also my logo.

Got mine this morning also. Only got the one though. I went ahead and closed mine as i haven't even used it yet. I might open it back up if i can get back to a schedule of putting things up but i don't see that happening anytime soon.

if I remember right they are going to start charging the 9.95 per month fee but the .05 per item fee will not be charged until the first of the year.
eBay fees are like being slowly pecked to death by chickens!!!

wranglers - I thought it was just the opposite. The $9.95 fee was going to be waived until the first of the year, but you have to start paying the 5¢ insertion fee right away...

This was posted on the Announcement Board on 9/26:
***Extension of Free Subscription Period for eBay Stores***
We are happy to announce that we will be extending the free subscription period for eBay Stores through the end of 2001. eBay Store subscriptions will not be charged until January 1st, 2002.
Here are a few of the features and promotions for Stores that will be coming in the next three months:
**promotion of Stores that are selling Auction for America items;
**ability to search for Stores by Store Name;
**ability to browse Stores by sub-categories;
**extended duration listings for Store Fixed Price Items;
**promotion of Stores during the holidays.
We want to encourage Store sellers to continue to learn and experiment with their Stores, as well as to participate in Auction for America. We hope you will use this extended free trial period to do both.
We will begin charging the $.05 Listing fees for Store Fixed Price items on October 1st, 2001 as orginally scheduled.
Thank you for your continued support of eBay and eBay Stores.
Regards,
eBay

I just saw this on their support forum:
We're receiving reports that store users have received messages suggesting that they'll be charged for their Store subscription. This message was sent by accident. We apologize for the confusion this has created and want to assure you that if your store has been closed you will not be charged these fees.
These notices were sent to all members that had set up stores previously, simply as a reminder that the free trial of eBay Stores was about to expire.
The free trial period for all store owners will last through December 31, as previously announced.
Please keep an eye on the Announcement Board for an official post on this situation.

Yes, I got 2 of them, although I'd only opened 1 store and closed it a month later.
And when I clicked the link they provided, of course I can't close the store because it's already closed!

Wow! Now, I feel left out, I only got ONE of those e-mails. Maybe if I actually closed my store, I'd get more.
