An international customer emailed me today to tell me that BidPay is "near collapse" and having major trouble. Has anyone heard anything along these lines? I haven't had anyone use it for a while, but I would miss it if it dies.

I haven't heard anything but it wouldn't surprise me.
I hardly had anyone use it and with a stiff $5.00 fee, who can blame them.
I've heard the theory that it's less expensive than International customers having to pay for money orders, but most of my International customers have used PayPal, Billpoint, sent cash, and even personal checks drawn on US banks.

I don't know anything about the rumor. What I do know is that payments with Bidpay are way down for me ever since Paypal and Billpoint went international. So far this year, I've only received one Bidpay money order, compared to about one a month that I used to average before the Paypal/Billpoint expansion.

i can give you 50 good reasons i use it...becasue i have had at least that many buyers use it this year. on international orders i require it. out of the 50 i would say half were u.s bidders who used it by choice... the vast majority of the items were sat. t.v related, H cards etc...
and of course i do realize the thread was a question directed to buyers not sellers

just ask yourself, why pay billpoint and paypal fees when you can make the buyer pay $5.00 for a bidpay money order
