I recently opted out of ebay's horrible check out procedure ---- yipeeeeeeee!! Was relisting some auctions last night and wanted to use Buy it Now to move some stuff. Is it true that you must check out if some one uses buy it now, even if choose not to participate in their check out program?
Very confused about check out, wish it would just go away!

No-I don't use check out and I state it in my auctions that I don't. Not to many people read it but it is there. I have had only one bidder want to use Billpoint and I said no PayPal only along with checks or Money order. If you use AW, there is now a box for you to write instructions in. I have not idea when it shows up because I have never tried to use check out. In that box I write. "I will email you when I received eBays EOA notice. Please wait until then and I will mail you payment instructions. Maybe that is ebays way of showing that checkout is for other payment plans than billpoint. I hate to have my credit card on every website that I use. That makes me nervous.

Checkout is always optional and ebay only recommends you use Checkout w/ BIN.
I personally don't have the option of Checkout because an error on the listing page defaults to Checkout, and ebay has yet to fix the problem.
Anything to get buyers out of the habit of emailing me is fine w/ me, but it hasn't helped much lately. I've had buyers use checkout, then email me for my address, or to confirm the total. That info is on the checkout!
