Just had to share this. Hope it brings someone the chuckles it brought me. I sold a group of small frog figures on ebay and when the winning bidder sent his info with the address of Toad Suck, Arkansas I was sure he was pulling my leg. Sure...a frog collector from Toad Suck...I'll never get paid for this, I thought. Now there have to be others out there who never heard of it either. Went straight to the Atlas and there it was. The guy was nice enough to send me a souvenir cup from their annual "Toad Suck Days" along with payment. One of those rare FUN transaction.

Last year returning from a trip to Tennessee we came through Toad Suck. I was driving at the time and nearly had a wreck looking at the sign trying to make sure I read it right. I wonder how in the world they came up with a name like that? I have all kinds of pictures in my head!! GOOD LAUGH !!! THANKS

Well, I live less than an hour from Toad Suck, Arkansas and the official unofficial legend of how it got its name is that it is located on the Arkansas River and in the old steamboat days it was a stopping point. The crew members from the boats would go to the local tavern and suck down the booze until they "swelled up like toads." The annual Toad Suck Daze is a big event in Arkansas, one of the largest festivals in the state.

We have a watermelon festival in my little town and we always have hundreds of watermelons. SO0000 how about it? Are there Toads at this festival? Just for fun?
By the way ... I LOVE festivals. Never been to one I didn't like. They are all unique.

I tried adding a link but I don't know how and it didn't work.

I went ... I looked... and this is one festival I will skip. There really are LIVE toads there! Scared to death of the critters!!!! But it is nice to know how they got the name. Thanks for sending the site.
