I just noticed that within the last few days eBay has changed their EOA notice. They used to send me and email at the end of an auction with pertinent information:

Item name: My Widget
Item number: 1234567890
Final price: $1.00
End date: Dec-12-01 12:12:12 PST
Number of bids: 9
Seller User ID: xxxxxxxx
Seller email: [email protected]
High-bidder User ID: xxxxxxx
High-bidder email: [email protected]

Seller's Payment Instructions:
[No Instructions]

The past couple of days, though, they are also including the following:

Shipping & Handling: $0.00
Additional Shipping: $0.00
Insurance (Not offered) :
Sales Tax: (none)

This is added right after high-bidder's email. I have opted-out of checkout. With S&H showing up in eBay's EOA, I'm afraid that it's going to start causing the same problem as the mandatory CheckOut did when it first came out.... people will start sending electronic payments with no shipping. Has anyone had this happen yet?

Typical eBay... they have to change something that was just fine to begin with.

Ummm Not sure how to break this to you but !!!!

the ebay end of auction notice has been this way for months they changed it when they added Checkout ..

By the way there is no real way to opt out of check out all ebay does when offer you a way to remove the checkout button from your closed Auction if you don't have a ebay store.

Hmmm... that's interesting. I just copied and pasted directly from and EOA that I received on 12/13/01 for the first part. There was nothing about S&H or Insurance in it, or in any that I had received previous to that, as the seller. I couldn't find it in any previous to 12/13 except for one in which I was the buyer and the seller did use checkout. Interesting.

Thanks for your reply. Who knows...
