Can someone tell me the link to where I can find the info on Ebay about feedback extortion?
I have a customer that says the painting she received was damaged in transit. I've offered a full refund to her explaining that the shipment was insured and she would not be out any funds nor would I. Now she's telling me she has already paid a place to have it stretched, framed, and the damage repaired and they won't refund her money. She wants me to pay her $25.00 toward repairs or she will leave "appropriate feedback". I'm not paying the $25.00 I offered a full refund including shipping cost back to me.
You can report it though ebay usually doesn't get involved in personal disputes and will most likely recommend SquareTrade which will just cost more money.

What is appropriate feedback. That you would refund her money. That would be the appropriate thing to do but knowing some of the mentalliaty of some buyers they will hand out negatives like they were paychecks. I would take the negative and then respond to her negative. Good Luck

if for some reason she will leave
you negative go to squaretrade,
they will assign you a mediator - if she agrees to work with them, and they can remove the feedback,
the cost is $15.00 and it takes up to 14 days to have it removed.
(after the agree to remove it,
you have 30 days to complete the case)
dont delete any of her emails.

Libra63 I agree with you. I'm going to take a negative because I offered to refund her money fully but I refused to pay $25.00 when I had no proof the painting was even damaged. She didn't come up with the excuse of already having paid to have it stretched, framed, and damage repaired until after she received my email to please return it for a full refund. She's a relative newbie.
To the others that suggest squaretrade I have used it in the past where the buyer left me the negative in error meant for someone else. In this case I think squaretrade is a lost cause because I will issue a full refund and file an insurance claim but I will not be extorted for $25.00. So I know a negative is coming, it will be my first so it doesn't bother me because I know I've done what's right. My response to her feedback will be totally professional that anyone noticing hers will fully discount it.
Should anyone say paying the $25.00 would be less greif. Perhaps so, but it's a matter of principle because I have bent over backwards in customer service sometimes beyond the call, but this time no way.
