The USPS wants to charge me $30 to mail 8+ lbs. of books to Sweden. Anybody know of a way to ship that might be cheaper?

I don't think there will be a cheaper method. It sounds expensive but you have to consider the weight and the distance of the mailing.

Be sure to wrap the books in plastic to protect them.

That sounds about right. Just e-mail your customer and let them know the cost so they can send you the money.
