How long do most folks wait when re-listing an auction? I sometimes re-list the week following the original auction (figuring that, even if I got no bids, at least interest is piqued)...Sometimes, though, I'll wait a few weeks and maybe get new "lookers" and some bids. What's the general consensus?

Right now, I'm using my eBay ME page to announce my upcoming auction schedule. That includes the relists - they go out again before the 30-day cut off.

AW almost makes it easy to go through the list of closed auctions and check off everything in the appropriate date range.

Sometimes as soon as it ends. I use the AM page to see how many hits the item has had -- lots of times we'll get a bid right away because the person had forgotten or missed bidding before the original auction ended.

I usually relist close to the 30 day deadline. I have much better luck than immediate relisting -- it's as though after several weeks there are a whole new bunch of people looking.

I wait a couple of days and I relist. I usually relist only twice, but I had this item and I did it 3x, the third was the charmer. Very low bids in the first two weeks and on the third week it went sky high. I guess I don't understand. I usually only relist twice, then what I do is put them in a lot, but then I wait for a couple of weeks, just in case someone asks about it. It has worked so I am going to stick with that.

Libra63--
You might want to experiment a little. When you list the 3rd time it qualifies for another free relist if it sells the 4th time.

I used to do what you did. 2 times and give up. Then I was busy with my real job and just decided to toss some things out to see how they did. I have only had 2 items out of hundreds that did not sell by the 4th relist. I sell items in the saturated groups of records, postcards, etc so I was very surprised at my results. I have also found that since there are very few bid wars going on in my categories I can sell things for $9.95 as easy as I can $6.95 -- you just have to find that one person who wants it. I do sell my records in groups of 3 to 5 by the same artist and often do the same with postcards with the same general area or interest. I had to raise my beginning bids in order to pay the fees for the relists but it is worth it and sales have gone up not down.

I can't believe how much work I used to just throw away in just starting over with ads or grouping things together after 2 tries. Ebay is a huge community and not everyone shops at one time.

Lindajean has some great points! Another thing I try to do in relisting is pick a different time of day for it to end as it may attract different bidders, i.e. change of shift, etc.! Good luck!
