As a seller, when do you leave feedback? When the buyer's funds clear? After buyer has received the item? After buyer acknowledges receipt and is happy (though some never acknowledge)? After they leave feedback for you?

I leave feedback upon the receipt of feedback, and I charge for it. $5.00 for newbies, $1 for seasoned users. It's been working out fine, and increses my profit margin of which I pay incremental income taxes on.
OK, OK, that was a JOKE ^
And that's the best contribution I can offer to this thread. I'm still worn out from the last feedback thread.

Morgantown...... That was hilarious!
I leave feedback if they email and tell me it arrived OK and other times, I leave feedback after they have left feedback for me which let me know it arrived OK. You see I put a "Thank-you" note in with every item I ship and in it, I request that they leave feedback as a way to let me know that it arrived safely.........works well for me.

The perfect world would be to receive your money and let the checks clear then leave feedback, ship the item and receive feedback. But, in the real world when you ship the item you may or may not get feedback. What I did was to inform them in my first email that I would leave feedback once they left feedback because I had so many that would not bother leaving feedback even after I did for them. It would probably be evey better to post how you handle this in your auction.

I leave feedback in bunches every other week. Otherwise I leave feedback as people leave them for me. The ones who leave feedback get reciprocal feedback within minutes/hours.

I leave feedback the day the item is shipped. I do not care if I receive feedback in return. So far so good....1500 sales, 1000 positive, no negs or neutrals. History is just one bounced check (resubmitted then cleared) no chargebacks. Fortunately, the category I sell is usually not high dollar and probably "safer than most" in terms of fraudulant bidders.

I use Vrane, which automatically returns feedback when it is left for me. I don't worry about feedback anymore, it has been automated. I honestly don't care if buyers leave any for me, but it does mean they won't get any back. I wish feedback would just go away, it is a waste.
posted on March 26, 2002 06:42:49 PM I normally leave feedback when the transaction is complete. Meaning when the buyer has received their merchandise and advised me that it has arrived in satisfactory condition.

I'm a fairly new poster but I've been reading here for a long time.....including threads like this, ad nauseum...but it's something that you think about over and over so it's probably worth dragging up over and over. I used to feel like when the buyer paid, his end of the contract had been fulfilled and he deserved FB right away, I even went so far as to put a statement in my auction terms to the effect that I didnt care for sellers who held out for the buyer's FB before leaving their own. After leaving lots of good FB's to buyers who can't be bothered to even let me know they received the item, much less leave FB, I'm starting to re-think...lately, if I have had really positive email communication with a buyer (by that I mean quick, personal, friendly and relaxed) I'll tend to leave FB when payment arrives. If on the other hand the buyer is slow to communicate, pushy etc., he may not get neg'd as long as he pays within time-lines, but he won't get FB from me till I see his. I guess it has become less cut and dried and more subjective, but at the same time maybe more personal in a way......

well twinsoft I guess we have to talk about something other than PayPal Fraud. I leave feed back when I receive the payment, at least I try and do that. I also include in my package a letter that states
"It was a pleasure doing business with you and if you have a spare moment drop me a line and let me know that your item arrived safe and sound"
I never ask for feedback. It really doesn't mean anything to me but when they do I appreciate it.

In my EOA email I say:
Concerning feedback,
usually I wait until I know you have received your item & are satisfied.
If you let me know I will be happy to leave feedback for you.
Most buyers just leave FB as their way of letting me know they received their item.
Many of my buyers are new & have low FB so I can't just leave something like:
Thanks.....AAA
I remember whan I was new & how I appreciated the kind words. I try to do the same.
