I've been selling on eBay for over two years, and have always closed my auctions on Mon thru Thurs at 9 pm central time. Am I missing out on a better closing time?

Hi, DEFINATELY!! The very best times to set the auction to close, are Sunday evenings, between 8 pm and 11 pm pacif time, . I have been selling on Ebay for 18 months, and have over 750 feedbacks/sales, I would venture to guess that out of the non buy-it-now, auctions, that a good 80% were on Sunday, and more than that if you figure times on Sunday. Email me and I will send you a copy of an E-book I purchased, has lots of good [email protected]

My best end day has changed several times this year. If you're doing good on a certain day, just keep it. I can't believe you don't research this stuff yourself, no one here can tell you what your buyers are doing in your category, and even if we could, it could change next week.

Right, thats why ALL the books, tips, etc, say that the best time and day are sunday evening, even ebay states this, perhaps YOU should do soome research?

That's their opinion. I have done research and have never once seen Sunday as a good end time, I even had auctions end on Sunday and did terrible. They will say that Sunday is a good end time because that's when people are usually home with nothing to do. However, their weekend probably exhausted them out and they hardly want to think about shopping.

irregardless of what your personal experiences have been, the majority of power sellers, and folks who make a fair living on what is sold, agree, Sunday is the best, I guess it all depends on what you are selling, and the price you are wanting. Personal experience, Sunday works best, followed closely by Saturday, then Friday. Again, this isnt counting the buy-it-now, which is designed for impulse buying anyway

cjcoins...The 11 PM Pacific time for closing is tough for us "Easterners"...Who's gonna snipe an item at 2 in the morning, not me for sure...(And I know the old song of putting in your highest bid before bedtime and we don't like it)...May I suggest that you all keep us in mind when you list items that late...May I suggest Sunday evenings ending by 8 Pacific time...We have work on Mondays ya know...11 is about the latest for us...This is not just my opinion but many of my fellow buyers here in the east...

I always close them at 6:00 PM Central time on Sunday. That way the Pacific folk can bid my items up before they go to bed....

I just bought from 15 Power Sellers and only one had the auction end on Sunday. So I wonder where you get the information that the majority end on Sunday. I also wonder if so many believe it is the best day to list, wouldn't that saturate the categories where they'd all end on the same day and cause lower prices because most bids to come in the final day?

classicrock, I said Sunday is not a good time IMO. I also clarified that people go have fun, do shopping on the weekend and are all spent by Sunday evening. They aren't as likely to be shopping on ebay. During the week people come home from work or school, and are bored, they're anxious to entertain themselves by shopping on ebay.

I guess I'll stick with what I'm doing. Seems there is no best time and day for auctions to close.
I've avoided Fri, Sat and Sunday in the past, as I personally think people with a life have better things to do on the week-ends.
Thanks for the input.

I sell some items that are used bu business I try to close them tue, wed or thur around
4:00 eastern time with the idea that folks are bidding from work ,mon and fri are busy.

collectibles I like sun around 9-11 eastern

this is my 7th year selling on ebay, and it used to be sunday evening, actually sunday nite is the best.
but it does not matter as much now,as oeverseas bidders from uk and japan have different hours than we do and many usa bidders use sniping software.
if you have an item ending on sunday nite ,you may get more bidders so yes,you could get a higher price.
but dont write off monday, folks who were out of town and come back late on sunday may wonder what they are missing and browse on monday.

Friday and Saturday nights? You must be kidding. Those are party nights. People are out on the town on those nights. Not in front of their computers. Sundays have been very good to me in the past, but lately, it has been Thursday. But that will too change. Last summer, it was Mondays. Come fall, Sundays will be good again. Christmas time, earlier ending times will get more sales.
Point, it varies.

Ok enough...The best time for an auction to close is when the buyer snipes the item right at the end for double what you expected for it, whenever it was you ended it!!!!!

Take a look at Ebay's public files and research. You will see that Ebay has had a problem with the market on Sundays. Ebay suggested Sunday as the best time to post but never put out actual figures to back that up. Ebay has worked hard to get the numbers up on Sunday and some of you that have fallin for this marketing tactic are making their efforts pay off. It is amazing what a good campaign can do....

After selling for close to Three years on eBay, I AGREE, Sunday is the MOST Overrated night to list or End Your Auctions, BUT I know it Depends on what you sell also. I think there is a GLUT of Material Listed on that night and Causes a depression in the prices on that Night of the Week, when they close.

NOT SUNDAY for me anyway. Sales have been falling off a little for me so I thought I would try Sunday evening because I have seen so many say it is good. It was my worst sell through percentage ever. Most of what I did sell went for opening bid. Back to Monday and Tuesday closings for me.

Ikehill-Im not into marketing, but why does ebay care you end your auction on Sunday? What difference does it make if you end it on Monday thru Saturday? They still collect their fees.

Sunday evenings are okay in the dark days of winter. I found that I do better during late spring and summer months if I end my auction Tuesdays through Thursdays from about 5 to 8 PM. I sell in antiques and collectibles.

But that's just me.
