I have a new template I designed in Front Page. It states 15 seconds to load for 56K Modem. I use a cable modem so it loads fast for me. Is this too slow for dial-up people? Your opinion is greatly appreciated!

15 seconds isn't much time for a page to load. I'd consider that a fast loading page.

why not try them with a 56k modem and see if the 15 sec is correct

I would be gone before it loads. 15 seconds is to long to wait and think about all the web tv and other 28.8 connections. I am not sure how long it would take for them but I think most people have a limited time to look and do not want to use it waiting on pages to load.

if it is a good template and the item is something i am looking for, I will wait for it to load.

if it is too busy so that it makes the item hard to see or has gifs that trail all over the page then I don't wait.

actually when you sitting and waiting 15 seconds can feel like for ever.

The rule is if you cant grab your visteres attention in under 30 seconds you have lost them and generally I find this hold true.

how ever I don't think your going to get a page to load to much faster inless it a solid color not a gif background and the page is mainly all text.

If you were selling something I really wanted I might wait the 15. If there were other sellers with the same item I'd be gone in 5!

It also depends on what displays when. I don't mind the long load for a pic, if I can start reading the description. Also, are you sure you need the added baggage of a 'real nice' template? Sometimes these things look great to the seller, but don't really add much to the selling of the item. Just something to think about.

ill say one thing. there is this one girl/lady on ebay who has awesome sanrio stuff but i hate going to her auctions becuase they are VERY cluttered and it has a midi in the bg! the text is bright garish colors and is all over the page, shes got marguees and animated gifs. i mean cmon!

so i guess what im saying is the page loading time and presentation does make a difference. to me anyway. if the page loaded faster (im on dsl, and it still lags) and it was presented on a neater page id buy way more from her!

if you use the net alot upgrade to dsl or cable modem you will not look back. the difference in cost nothing compaired to difference in speed!
