You can fill in the blank if you'd like - I just have to vent. I ship probably 10,000 videos a year between ebay, other auction sites, and my web site. I have been doing this for years. I had someone with 15 feedbacks email me today saying that her video chipped in a corner during shipping and I should really be shipping videos in a box instead of a padded envelope. She asked why I was taking the "cheap way out". Now I realize she may not be a newbie because I also have other ID's with low feedbacks. I refunded her money, but she is the FIRST damaged video I've had in 3 years. Wouldn't you look at someone's feedback and how long they've been selling before critisizing their ways? I don't overcharge on shipping ($2.00 media rate), and if they pay for priority shipping I ship in a box. Do I have to start stating in my auctions now that I ship in padded envelopes and if you'd like a box please request one? I'm trying to avoid a super long TOS. You don't have to respond to my questions, but if you need to vent feel free to add to this post.
edited to add - I did email her back and thank her for the suggestion and explained that she is the first damaged video I've had and it's not worth the added expense and that I'd refund her money.

ihula, I know how frustrating it can be for a buyer to try and tell you how to package. you did just the right thing though, so now forget it and change nothing.

IMHO we sometimes take these type of suggestions too personally, I am more thin skinned than most though.

keep on doing things the way you have and good luck to you.

I understand completely. I have over 1000 postitive feedback postings and when I recently sold an old album of 78's the guy sent a long long email telling me to be sure and put bubble wrap between each record etc. etc. He didn't bother with looking to see I have no problems reported in my packaging or to give me credit for having a little sense.

I took it wrong and wrote him a rather short note requesting an additional $5.00 for the extra shipping supplies and time. He backed off real quick and wound up being a very nice man. He didn't mean anything by his comments, just wanted to protect his purchase, and I had had a long day of numerous stupid questions from buyers and really over-reacted. Of course, I already packaged all my 78's just as he had requested I just didn't like him insinuating I did not know what I was doing!

I would do as rarriffle suggested and just move on.

There must be some sellers out there packing 78's and Lp's really badly... I have had three buyers in the past 24 hours request some type of "special care" be given to their records... They are very detailed and almost funny...

I understand too. I also use padded mailers for shipping single videos. In the past 18 years, I have mailed 1000's of tapes to virtually every country in the world, and I can't recall ever having one arrive broken.

I have received the odd broken one that was poorly packed in a box with others, and the shipper has always replaced it no charge.

I was working on a trade for a bunch of DVDs a month ago and the guy who wanted them *told* me to carefully insert a piece of TP (even told me the brand to use) in each case and then individually bubble wrap each one, then separate them in the box with popcorn.
Needless to say, I traded them to another guy, packed and shipped them the "normal" way, all all arrived safe and sound.

Some people are just a bit too anal, I guess

Note to lindajean: Do you sell records on a regular basis? If you do please contact me @ [email protected]. I have access to over 500 old LP's some of which are demos from the widow of a former discjockey. These are 50's & 60's. Lots of jazz.
