Hi, it's me again.
FedEx just charged my credit card for $20, and I don't know why. Remember, I just signed up 2 days ago. I just simply received a notice from Paypal that a payment was made to FedEx for $20.
I can't find anything on their site that explains it. They said nothing to me on the phone about any kind of sign up fee. Do any of you know what this was for?

Before I got a daily account where they bill me once a week, I used to ship from their web site and when I would, they would put a $15 0r $20 charge to my card and they do that so they know your card is good for it. Then once you drop the package off, they make sure it weighs what you said it would, and they process it then they charge the correct amount and refund the original charge of $20.
It's the charge they make to be sure the card is valid. It will come back as a credit later on. Might take a week or two, just keep checking your PayPal card. It will show up as: Debit Card Credit Received From FEDERAL EXPRESS. MEMPHIS TN
Since you now have an account with them they won't do the validation charge every time you send a package. The actual charges for what you send show up maybe 2-3 weeks after you ship.
Hope this helps. Stick with them, it'll get straightened out in a while. And, if you have questions, call FedEx. You'll get an actual real live person who knows what they're talking about! What a treat!
I've been VERY happy w/FedEx. Shipped a 21-pounder from California to North Carolina the other day. Cost was $15 and change including insurance. Priority mail would have been $36 PLUS insurance, parcel post almost $27 with no insurance.

I liked how helpful and friendly they were when I was opening the account. I'm going to call them Monday morning. I was only concerned because I had not purchased anything yet and $20 was removed from my Paypal account suddenly.
Thank you! I prefer working with a company I can actually speak to.
