I received a payment today from England in pounds. I think it is a money order. Is there anything I can do with this except return it? Any info would be appreciated.

I had this happen to me once. I took it to the bank and the exchange would have been about $17.00 on a $40 item. I told the buyer to send me a new money order in US dollars and I would return the money order, or to send the balance in US dollars or to pay me via BidPay or PayPal. They sent me a new money order drawn to US dollars and I returned the original money order, but it was a real pain in the butt!!

one pound is $1.56 USD
without bank comision,
so first check if you sent you enough
you might be able to fix this without any problems,

like 50 pounds is $78.18 USD.

I have no idea if the link will work,
if not go to yahoo and type in exchange rates

In my experience, the bank commission was pretty hefty. I don't think they really wanted to be bothered. I definitely did not receive enough money and the buyer was not willing to pay the commission, that is why he sent another money order.

call your bank first,
see what the rates are,
if you come out short do what merrie did with her buyer, ask for BidPay.com
and good luck.

Just put the / in with your url, then it should work.

I tried to spend all of my Canadian money before I came home but found $5 Canadian in my wallet at the Chicago airport when trying to pay for a bagel. I decided to give it to my nephew for Christmas. He will think it's worth something.

I once got a Canadian Postal Money order. I went to my Bank which is a Large NY bank and they would only buy the check. They said it was better to get the Money in Canadian Dollars rather than US dollars.

I had to go to the bank 3 times and pay fees twice just to collect this money. I will not accept foreign money orders again

Try to return and get paypal or Billpoint. Even if you hate the fees, trust me its worth it on this baby

I get a lot of canadian postal money orders in us funds and never a problem cashing them in.

I do take them to the post office as there are no fees to cash them. That would be your best bet.
