Many thanks to all you AWersfor your helpful posts a few days ago re: my question about online delivery confirmation.

I need it for first class, media, parcel post, Priority, et al.

I downloaded the new latest version (2.2 or whatever was on their website, got a great looking page to enter all the required info: my name, addy, recipient's name, addy, etc., and was able to choose which type mail (first class, etc.) I wanted. Downloaded the JAVA or whatever whas required, too.

So far, so good.

Only problem is that when I try to print a label, nothing happens!

These days, those few pennies saved make a difference in my bottom line (I'm a small time seller).

Did I miss a step somewhere along the line? I followed the installation instructions to the letter, but obviously something is wrong.

Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

I tried the PO phone # for help, but got nowhere.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I think you are in the wrong place. Try this address.

http://shiplabel.usps.com/cgi-bin/api/shipping_label.cgi?

It is the same label for all three. The only thing you do is for first class and media mail is cut the priority part of the label off. Put that on your 1st class package but becareful when taping it down that you don't cover any of the bar code with tape.
For Priority Mail use the whole label..

This should work. I don't download anything. When you are done with one label there is a box at the bottom that asks you if you want to print another one and if you do check that. Good Luck

Thanks so much, I have never understood how to get the 13¢ DC for Media Mail/1st Class and have been paying a whopping 55¢ each. I even wrote to the USPS site and they wouldn't tell me. So if I cut off the Priority words and tape it to the PO will it scan that I am to be charged 13¢ or do I have to pay for it in advance with a credit card on file? Thanks.

all delivery confirmation fees for anything other than priority mail (media mail, 1st class) has to be paid for at the counter.

just cut off the label above the return address and your all set.

If you have that label on your package the postal clerk will weigh your package then she will put in either Priority Mail charge, 1st class charge or Media Mail charge. Once she does that her computer will add the proper charge for the DC. Priority is free, 1st class is 13 cents and Media Mail I think is 13. Her computer is now set up to scan the DC immediately where in the past we had to wait until it got into the mail room. It will then show up on your printed receipt. Your printed receipt tells where the package is going along with the zip code then it states the DC along with the DC number, whether you insured it or not and the amount of insurance.
Now if you go to a substation where they don't have the latest equipment you usually have to tell the clerk about the 13 cent DC for 1st class and their receipt shows nothing. At least the USPS is doing something right.

Do you have the acrobat reader? It is necessary to do the printing if your using the shipping assistant. Perhaps you don't have it downloaded or its an old one.

I believe you have to download and install the latest Adobe reader AFTER you have installed Shipping Assistant.

BTW, Endicia will do everything SA does (plus a lot more) and print the postage so you don't even have to go to the Post Office.

There is a monthly fee however, but you can try it for 30 days with no fee and see if it's worth it for you.

I agree, you have to install the newest version of the Adobe Acrobat Reader which they have a link to right on their site (same page where you download shipping Assistant).

harry, I love what Endicia does. But for small-time sellers, those little monthly fees take all the profit. The online pay form usps offers is a partnership between Endicia and USPS anyway.

If I become a big seller, I would look first to Endicia as an online pay source and recommend it to others. In the meantime, the free service through USPS is the best alternate solution.

I think it worked, fingers crossed. I took 2 First Class in this morning with the DC labels and the word 'Priority' chopped off. I told him what I did and he said, 'Sure, no problem' and ran them right through with free tracking. I didn't even get charged the 13¢. I will check in a few days to see if they were delivered OK by the tracking numbers. I never dreamed this could be so easy. I have been paying 55¢ for these non-Priority ones as I thought I needed to download USPS Shipping Assistant. THANKS!

You don't have to down load Acrobat reader to do a Priority Label or 1st class label. That is only if you pay for your postage on line. All you have to do is go to the econfirmation label and type it.
