No jokes, please!

I have a little African-American mammy-type doll, two dolls in one. Hold her up one way, she's one doll; turn her upside down and she's another doll--two different heads, two sets of arms, one body (so to speak).

Is there a technical name for this item? What would you call it if you were selling it on ebay?

(Oh, I can just feel those jokes coming! Yikes.) ~Adele

The upside-down dolls are called "topsy-turvy" dolls. They're very collectable! Hope that helps.

THANK you! I knew some expert would know this. This doll is from the estate of a world traveler, and the apron on one of them has, in embroidered letters, Jamaica (very faint). Do you think that will hurt the value? She (they) is (are) very sweet. (Grammar is getting to me here!)

Hi Roadsmith! I'm no expert...but my friend loves topsy-turvy dolls! I would think the embroidery would make it even more unique..don't quote me though ! I do know Gone with the Wind topsy-turvys can go for big bucks. Good luck!
