Block that e-mail address and the bidders ID from bidding on your auctions now. Then change you password again. Do it now!!!

if you had read the other thread youd know that she cant access her account.
that is very weird. id be willing to bet that that is the ebay member that took over your account. easy way to build feedback possibly.
email ebay more than once!

Tried to change password to no avail.
Wah!!!!!!
Your password has to be in working order, which it isn't.
Now to wait hours before eBay can help.
If this person is bidding under my id will eBay erase all these crazy things?

I feel so sorry for you, what a nightmare. I don't really see what you can do until the morning, when I think you should phone eBay as soon as possible, I know there are people on this board who have the phone #'s. Wish I could help more, but I think this has to brought to eBay's attention as soon as possible, emails are just not quick enough. I think it is a lesson for all of us to change passwords periodically, and make them difficult to hack by using letters and numbers.

I read an article just this morning on my computer Front Page regarding eBay identity theft entitled:
"eBay Identity Theft Hits Close to Home. Tech-Savvy editor shocked to find someone bidding on goods using her eBay identity."
I don't know how to link the article here. Someone 'tech-savvy' will do that
Go to www.pcworld.com
On Home Page, HOT TOPICS (click 'other topics). Second page, CONSUMER ADVICE: Scams & Hoaxes (click 'next 10') to view the above article.
It's an informative read...quotes by Pursglove, etc. Seems to involve lots of time-consuming red tape w/phone calls to eBay in resolving the dilemma in a timely manner for (us) peons. The editor had an inside to Purseglove, thus swift action.
What a nightmare! Do hope you have good luck in getting speedy answers and your acct safely back in your hands.
NOT beachbound on eBay...

Thanks for the link to the PC World article.
"Perenson tried that route first, but quickly became so frustrated with the company's online help and automated phone service that she called Pursglove."
Lucky she happens to have Pursglove on speed dial. Most of us don't have that luxury.
"Once eBay identifies a true case of fraud, it may investigate--but ultimately, law enforcement will handle a legal case. Ebay has no say on how fast the cops act, [Pursglove] says."
In other words, eBay will do nothing.
"Of all those transactions, less than .01 of one percent result in confirmed cases of fraud, [Pursglove] says."
I imagine the number of fraud complaints is much higher, and that is the significant number.

Someone got a hold of your password since that is the only way that they could change your password. But we do give out our password a lot to services like Andale for galleries, AW for auction listing tools, etc... so if ANY of them were hacked, this can happen too!
Something really strange happened to me once. I was searching for items on ebay and clicked over to My eBay. When I got there, all of my selling items were gone! I looked around and noticed that it was SOMEONE ELSE's ACCOUNT! No one but my husband and myself use our computer. So it was not because of that.
I emailed the guy whose account it is using his own email. I also sent a timesensitive email and received a canned response. It was strange. I could list and bid and everything on this guy's account.
Scary.

I am definitely not computer saavy enough to know how they do any of this, BUT I CAN GUARANTEE I did not give out my own password to ANYONE!!
I did talk to an eBay rep this afternoon on the phone & she said this has been a nightmare. So evidently it is not a once in a blue moon event. It is running rampant thru the systems right now.
I had to send a 4th email thru SafeHarbor & include all the info I told you guys plus my home phone number. She said it is likely they will call me. We'll see.
I hope you guys are not going to be hit too!
I was praising ZoneAlarm & was told on another board that this is antiquated. I don't know.
I asked the eBay rep about firewalls & she said you couldn't work on eBay with one that would be effective. Is this accurate?

a person obtaining your pw has nothing to do with whether or not you have a firewall. more than likely they retrieved your pw from one of the auction services you use such as aw or paypal even, tried the pw on your ebay account and got lucky. most so called "hackers" are no more of a hacker than i am an electrician. its all about people using the same pw for more than one thing and the "hacker" getting lucky.
thats what happened to me. someone stole an account that i have for another service and the only way he stole it was because he tried the pw i used on a similiar type of service and got lucky. this person had no "hacking" know how.

How can an non registered used not only bid but also use a yahoo address. When I started to sell I registered and was told that if I was using a yahoo address that I had to have my permanent address on file also. Can someone explain that to me. Thanks
I see he must have resolved something because I went to those auctions, clicked on sellers other auctions and he was selling again.

Yes, straightened out now....Took eBay a week to the day & I was so happy.
This person in question also sold laptops & other computers ripping off buyers. Check it out. Got an email from one of the buyers this morning wanting to know if I had info on this buyer because he had sent $700+ to Western Union & no contact from this seller.
