can you tell me the best time of the year to move my Barbie collection?
They are all NRFB.
Is it best to scan them? It seems like the pics come out better that way.
Shipping also concerns me ~
Can you advise on the best packaging method?
I would hate for them to get tossed around on the way to their new home!
I started collecting on a whim but never really got into it. Since I moved, they are no longer displayed anywhere so it seems silly to keep them in a closet when someone else might enjoy them!
(DH & two sons don't get into 'dolly decorating!)
I will probably hang on to my favorites like Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Harley & Coca Cola but I need to lighten it up a bit!
Any advice would be appreciated...
TIA

Wait until after Labor Day to list. Almost anytime is good for barbies, but July & Aug. is a slow time for anything. I'd suggest taking 'good' pics instead of scans; it really does look better. Pack them individually in bubblewrap, & put peanuts or some other packing material in the box so they don't move around. Hope this helps.

zoomin, I've found digital pics to work better than a scan. Collectors will want to see more of the box than the front - If you angle the camera, you can avoid the flashback. Make sure you examine each box carefully and note any dings or scratching on the clear pastic part. Those Barbie lovers are pickeee.
Best time would be October forward.
Your buyers will love you if you wrap the box in white tissue paper to keep it free from getting scratched up, bubble wrap and peanuts or packing paper.

Thanks for the help!
It is hard to know when to sell in collector categories ~ I primarily sell upscale/boutique clothing, new with tags, and I don't really see any 'off' seasons.
I appreciate your input!
I like the idea of wrapping in bubble wrap or tissue first, it should help to keep the 'popcorn fragments' from getting into the box.
I will get myself ready to list in a few weeks, then.
I am petrified of barbie fanatics going bananas on my feedback so I will be sure to take lotsa pics of any creases or flaws in the boxes, too.
so glad you didn't recommend that I wait til Xmas
