An antique dealer I know bought this Lalique vase at an estate sale. She says it's genuine but I have some concerns. The "Lalique" signature on the bottom is done in stencil-style block letters (R. Lalique) and, underneath that, also in the same style letters, the word "France". What raises my concern is that, underneath that is a small rectangle (1/2 inch by 1/4 inch) that's been scratched away. The photo of both the signature and the scratched-off space is the best I can do. Can any Lalique experts out there tell me if my antique dealer friend was "taken" or is this, in fact, a genuine piece. Thanks all!

I have one piece of Lalique which I purchased several yrs, ago. It has a label on the bottom which is approx. 1/2 inch square. This states in smaall letters "crystal" & in larger leters LALIQUE, under that says Paris. I have never tried to scratch this label off. It is a beautiful little piece of the nude with the swan.

After watching a LOT of The Antiques Road Show I'd say it has a good chance of being a fake signature vase. Seems like many people has always been deceivious and tricky in the antiques trade.

I saw some Lalique at a preview for an auction coming up Tuesday. It's for a duPont estate and has been authenticated. This signature looks "off". The placement is funny and all the pieces I saw had labels. Look it up but still be cautious.
