i had a buyer use buy it now on one of my auctions and then email me stating they didnt mean to buy it they just wanted to watch it to show to a friend. she asked me if i would retract her bid and relist it so she could watch it. i emailed her stating that i would not retract her bid and that her bid was a contract and i would hold her to it. well see how she responds to that. what i want to know is how does someone accidentally buy it now?! you are given an oppurtunity to cancel your decision before completing the transaction.

what is wrong with these people? she even requested the total. then asked me to retract her bid before i even sent her the total.

Mine was a real low price !! Like we do this for fun ... sometimes I feel like I'm in The Twilight Zone !!!!!!!!!!

Anyway .... never did pay me I HATE WHEN THAT HAPPENS

I've had this happen in various ways. I like the ones that state: I only meant to bid on one and accidentally bid on two, will you just cancel the bid for me.

As I don't think they will pay I let them off the hook if they pay all fees involved. So far all have agreed to do so.

WOW! I would never want to deal with you!
Cut the person some slack,,,they made an error.

Do you have a return policy? I would bet now.

You will not last on Ebay with a sellers attitude like that!

Sometimes I get the impression that bidders don't realize that the sellers must pay fees for all transactions completed through eBay. It doesn't cost them anything to make a mistake, bid or buy something they don't really want. I've never used the "Buy It Now" feature. I suppose it's good for catching the impulse buyer but some people seem to think that buying on eBay is like shopping at the mall. If they decide they don't want it or find a better deal later on, they want to return it...

Anyway, as to what to do about collecting payment, if the person doesn't want to pay for it, it's rather difficult to collect payment. Depending on the amount of money involved, it might be easier to just cancel the transaction, apply for a refund on the final value fees (I assume this is possible for "Buy It Now" ) and relist the item. Might have to swallow the listing fees as a "cost of doing business" but at least that way you can move on and not get stressed out over it...

lowprofile,,,,get your head out of the sand. If a bidder can't read what they are doing, they need to keep off the computer.

Would the excuse "I didn't mean to speed, can't you void the ticket" work on a cop. NO WAY.

I'd hold them to their toes to the fire until they either pay up or I was refunded my fees through the deadbeat bidder process.

well i dont plan on whining for payment. i simply told her i expect payment and would go thru the ebay npb process just liek i would any other bidder, if payment was not received. there will be no more emails from my end to her.

lowprofile, most sellers will cut a lot of slack for a bidder who is telling the truth.

This one is lying through their teeth.

Think about it.

To "watch" an item you click on the "watch this item" at the top of the auction page and you are done.

To "Buy it Now" you scroll down and there it is next to the bidding option saying "Buy It Now". You have to click on the button under "Buy It Now" (I don't see the word "watch" anywhere near it) and a new page comes up in which you VERIFY that you want to buy the item. THen you have to click again on another button that says "Boy it Now" to finalize the buy.

Please tell me how anyone other than an idiot could mistake that for "Watch this item"??????????

Frankly, Ebay would be better off without PITA like this person who not only does not know what buttons to click on, but lies about it to boot!

lowprofile... i tend to cut alot of slack with my buyers. dealing with me is not hard at all.

i do have a refund policy. want a refund, send the item back if you arent satisfied and i will refund you less shipping. if its my fault (wrong item or what not) or the item isnt delivered (tracking # on everything i send) then you get it all refunded. how is that a difficult seller? i dont like being lied to and refuse to roll over to these buyers and play the mutt.

I get those every so often. I charge them a 15% fee to cancel their bid and they usually agree to it.

i dont know why but im getting a chuckle out of this guy. i sent him the invoices. he then requested shipping charges. even tho my auctions state several places that i will cover the shipping charges. he then sends me a payment for $30.00, even tho the total remaining due was $45.00. i email him back informing him that he still owes $15.00 for the other auction. he emails me for the auction item #. wonder how much his next payment will be. wonder whats going thru this guys head. why he just cant make the payment all at once is beyond me. funny thing is that he acts like he doesnt even remember bidding on all these auctions. lol
