I was wondering if anybody had a good payment reminder email that they send out to NPB. I am looking for a email, that I can send out to people who have not paid me in a while stating something like, auctions are a contract, maybe some legal mumbo jumbo, and so on.

So I wanted to see if anybody already has a good payment reminder email that they will share with us.

Out of the 200 or so auctions I do a month I get about 20 or so people that dont pay. So I am attempting to be more aggressive in getting people to pay.

Does 20 NPB out of 200 seem bad to anyone. What kind of percentage of NPB do other people get?

thanks

Michael

Hello,
I haven't heard from you as of yet on your winning bid for the auction of the XXXXXX. If you could please e-mail me back to let me know when I can expect to see the payment, I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Your Name

This works for me about 95% of the time. The rest usually are deadbeats. I give two days to respond to this e-mail, then start the NPB / FVF process. If they do respond, I give one more week, then NPB/FVF.

PS: I keep this in a file then copy and paste it into an e-mail titled, "Haven't heard from you" Then I just fill in the XXXX and send it.

I agree with stonecold's approach. If no response, then file NPB / FVF.
But I would title the email "ebay #xxxxx whatever item" -
"Haven't heard from you" looks too much like the spam I delete without reading.

20/200 (10%) is terrible. I have sold over 1,500 items on ebay and had less than 10 NPB ( < 1%). Whatever you are selling probably draws the immature bidder crowd. But if you like selling it, you have to accept what you get.

Our email is a gentle reminder notice.

Hi Xxxx - Our auction # xxxxxx ended on xx-xx-xx and we were wondering if you might have overlooked mailing your payment to us. As of today, xx-xx-xx we have not yet received it.

Please let us know if you have already mailed your payment as we will be filing a nonpaying bidder notice with ebay on xx-xx-xx to obtain a refund of the fees we incurred in selling this item.

Thank you. Xxxx ebay userid = xxxxxx

Then do so...if they don't respond.

Mine is a gentle reminder notice also. I say
Good Evening,
As of yet I haven't heard anything from you about the auction that you won. Maybe you were on vacation, so following is the WBN that I sent you at the close of the auction and I would appreciate it if you would get in touch with me. Thanks for bidding on my auction.

I wait about 7 days. The subject line is the same as the one on the original email. I always send this notice along with the WBN that I have sent them previously to show them that I had sent it before. It usually works but if not then I write one that states that if I don't hear from them I will be filling Non Pay Bidder.

We use one very similar to Linda_K's. We always give them a deadline and tell them we will file NPB after that date.

And we always put the auction # and/or description in the subject line - so they can't give the "spam" excuse, like JACK said. Adding "2nd Notice" (or 3rd or 4th) also adds incentive to respond.

We seldom have to file for FVF. Maybe 1%.

Hello,

As of today we still have not received your payment for Ebay Item ######. Please remit your payment promptly. Failure to do will result in me having make a call to my brother-in-law who is connected with the mob in your area. In the past he has acted as my collection agency and will persue all means necessary. Please respond within 48 hours as to your intentions.

If you have already sent payment then please disregard this email and have a nice day.
