So, having finally decided that I will have to sign up (reluctantly) for Paypal due to Billpoint being phased out, I click on the eBay link, complete the lengthy form (keeping in mind this is advertised as being "fast & easy", and learn I have to enter my credit card to verify whatever in accepting payments -- so, okay, no problem, but when I do that, instead of being fast & easy, now I have to wait for my credit card statement to arrive in the mail, which is several weeks away, then I have to enter some number from it (if I even remember by then) in order to activate my account.
I've been a Powerseller on eBay for over 4 consecutive years, this just seems like an extraordinary piece of crap to me, but maybe I'm just old & surly or something.
Nonetheless, I really did expect that I would be able to utilize this payment system immediately. Billpoint was incredibly easy & fast to register with -- I think this Paypal runaround stinks!

You'll need to go through a similar process to be able to transfer funds from PayPal to your bank account.
In order to verify that you are the owner of the bank account number you give them, they will make two deposits of a few cents into the bank account.
To get the bank account verified, you'll have to see the deposits on your bank statment and then go into your PayPal account and key in the precise amounts that PayPal deposited.

I signed up with PP when it first started and they sent a snail mail letter to your house with a code that you typed into a form on their site. That verified your street address. To verify your checking account PP deposited something like 56 cents and 44 cents and it took two days for the deposits to arrive. I went to an ATM and checked my account and saw the two amounts and entered them in PP's form on their website.
Many buyer's sign up in a few minutes time with their credit card. The bank verification takes about 2 business days.

If you want to verify your bank account without being online or going to the ATM, just call your bank and exlain about the two tiny deposits; they will tell you the amounts and you can get verified usually in a couple of days.
When I registered my credit card, they asked for one of the numbers on the signature line.
I was verified in about 5 minutes. The only way you could know that number was to have the card in your possession. PayPal apparently has some way to check that with the larger credit card issuers.
I know as a merchant account holder, I can check your address to ship to with a phone call to Visa, MasterCard or Discover. It takes about 2 minutes by phone it is probably even faster if you are set up to check online.
It may not be PayPal, but the bank that you have your card with, you know, Citybank, Capitol One, Bank of America, etc.

It was easier to sign up for PayPal several years ago. I had to send in several requests for the "code" to verify my account.
I did find it easier to use my online access to my bank account to verify the deposits made by Paypal.

You can also access most of the Visa Accounts on line also. This is just for your protection. The process seems like it takes long but in the long run it protects you...

No, I didn't phone my bank. Why make it difficult for myself? I just viewed my bank account on-line to find the PayPal deposits.

I would use a Paypal only bank acct. I don't know if Ebay is changing it but Paypal has the right to dip into your bank account if your account goes negative (i.e. chargeback).
