Please, please, please respond to my emails. I've been having a problem lately getting the newer Ebay members to respond to emails. I'll have checks suddenly show up in my mailbox with no previous communications from the buyer. Here's what could happen: 1. You don't email me to let me know how you are going to pay. 2. Your check gets lost in the mail or arrives 2 weeks after the auction closes. 3. I email you for payment once, twice, three times and you don't respond. 5. I figure you aren't going to pay for the auction and then 4. I file a NPBA and leave a neg.
Even if the email is just to say "I received your payment instructions, I'll be sending a check." You don't have to have a huge email conversation with me, just acknowledge my WBN!
Would have been nice if (on 60 Minutes), instead of saying over and over again how profitable Ebay is, they would have advised Newbies on proper auction procedures and the effect of negative feedback. Instead there is an influx of Newbies now who, I'm willing to bet, never even read the Ebay rule book.

What I've been getting lately are buyers who aren't reading my TOS (international buyers who send payment based on US shipping rates, etc.)...Fortunately, they've been understanding when I've refunded their PayPal payments and they've submitted a new payment including correct international postage...but it's a hassle.

I have been getting a few of those checks in the mail with no email too. I then email them and tell them that even though I received the payment, I refuse to ship until I have an email from them verifying the shipping address. My last paragraph tells them the importance of responding to the EOA.

I've noticed that newbies don't seem to know the rules. I've begun adding a P.S. on my EOA message acknowledging this person is rather new to ebay, I want this experience to be a good one, feel free to ask any questions they want, etc. etc.
I also add, sometimes in the title line, PLEASE RESPOND WITHIN 3 DAYS. Not as much trouble as before, and some are actually happy to know someone cares and will answer their questions.
And occasionally, with old as well as newer buyers, if I haven't heard from my original message, I re-send it with this in the title line: "SECOND (but friendly) NOTICE." This always gets to them!

"Here's what could happen: ..."
But usually doesn't.
"I then email them and tell them that even though I received the payment, I refuse to ship until I have an email from them verifying the shipping address..."

I am simply sending the exact same End of Auction, send your address e mail to them as if nothing was out of the ordinary. Over and Over and Over......3 days,,,,Start the process,,,,,And ya know what? Not many have come back with any response. It is almost like it was a game of bidding with them. They have no clue as to what is going to happen next. 0 bidders with shades.
