Yesterday I received email from ebay about change of e-mail address request.
Change of E-mail address request was made from:
IP Address: 62.94.114.191
ISP Host: ip444-20.adsl.edisontel.com
I did not do it and also never authorized anyone to use my Ebay account.
Today I saw there are 4 high ticket auctions on Ebay, they are not mine. The auction# are 3001775956, 3001776222, 3001776259, 3001790472
In those listings he put:
Please e-mail me at: [email protected] with any questions and I will gladly answer them
PLEASE SEND ME E'MAIL ME AT [email protected]
BECAUSE I HAVE PROBLEM WIHT MY EMAI :[email protected]
I ended those listings, emailed Ebay, hotmail and his isp provider. Any other authorities should I report him to?

When I went to look at the auctions I noticed that eBay took away the function to look for auctions under the number. Does anyone know why? Then I entered the email address into the seller search (not the hotmail one but the gbis.com one) and this person is a power seller. Why would he hack into her ebay ID when he had one of his own.
This is sure a mystery.
Sounds like you have things covered...Keep us posted.

Found out about the auction number. You can put that in the search area and the auctions come up. I never read the announcement board and they probably mentioned it in there. Sorry.

Libra - becuase the auctions listed are a scam. Super Bowls Tickets are the hottest item out right now - 4 auctions with 6 tickets each could easily bring in 40-50k. Using someone elses account could get you a years salary for nothing while killing someone elses account.
Superbowl tickets have been mailed so anyone who actually had tickets would know the seat numbers they were selling but this person is listing general vacinity locations - big red flag to bidders.
I'd love to see the stats on fake/non-existant tics sold on ebay when all is said and done.

Thanks for the information. It is beyond my wildest dreams how people scam others. I sure hope eBay does something to this seller but then again he is a power seller and maybe nothing will happen except either a slap on the hands or a 30 day suspension. What I don't understand is that he is listing under her user ID but when you hit sellers other auctions it goes to his.
I have one comment I doubt if those tickets would go that high. Maybe they would if the Packers were in it as Wisconsin people like to spend money on them. Just joking....

Libra- if the Raiders win their game today there is no telling how high tickets will go. Or how much trouble San Diego will see. If sales were better I'd take a vacarion right now rather than be in the madhouse this area is about to become.
BTW - Never tease a Packer fan when it comes to the Super Bowl : (

Libra,
I guess you don't understand what is going on here.
I am that power seller, ***www.aawholesale.com** is my ebay account. A Hacker got into my account and listed super bowl tickets under my account.
Ebay won't suspend my account, I'm the victim here. Someone used my user id and password to list his auctions and I suspect that he's Italian because I went to his ISP Host and it's in Italian. I'm 100% sure he doesn't have those tickets, he just wants to collect money from buyers.

I know with the Fiesta bowl tickets a guy from Salt Lake City sold over half a million $$ worth of tickets he didn't have...
this type thing is a big money maker if they can get by with it.
thank goodness you cuaght it quickly, maybe they were hoping you wouldn't notice until they had made some money from it.

I am sorry anaandasmom...I really don't know what I thought. I thought he had taken your user ID and changed it to him and you couldn't get into your other auctions. Well anyway good luck and keep us posted. I guess they picked the wrong person.
BTW us Packer fans take all the wins we can get, yes, it would have been nice to be in the superbowl but we had a great season and looking forward to next.

Obviously, he wasn't thinking- A Powerseller must check on her or his ebay account pretty often, two or three times daily, i'm sure.
Ananda'smom, how often do you check up?

I'm not sure anyone does. from looking at the map and knowing recent changes those may be among the seats recently removed to make ADA compliance. I'm curious as to his explination as to how the tickets got to be with hom in Italy considering that they were only sent out a couple weeks ago.
It's definately a scam, I just wonder how much he knows about the actual tickets and the pricess to be able to answer questios on them.
BTW - Those tickets are going for about 2k each hear in San Diego right now and will probably go for 3 on game day. The Oakland fans are starting to arrive and it's getting crazy.

neomania - with those two crazy football teams and all those stars it is probably not safe to walk the streets as Sapp might just blind side you. It should be a wild time in SanDiego I just wish the Packers could have been there. Maybe next year.

Libra - from all reports Sapp is nothing but a gentleman right now. Emmit however was refusing to sign autographs at a chiarity event where he was an advertised signer last night.
I don't mind the Bucs being here although I would have loved to see Green Bay but our big worry here is Raider fans. We have had stabbings and multiple fights break out at Raider/Charger games in the past couple years. The other problem that national press will not ever mention is that San Diego has a HUGE gang problem (More GR Murders this year than even LA) and there are definate threats of a mini war between LA sects and locals. Downtown (where I live) is a zoo! Every major party is within 4 blocks of each other. The police are out in force ready to lock the area down and in the meantime INS is arresting every security gaurd and cab driver whose immigration status is in question due to delays in processing following 9/11 - Nevermind that these are the people that are registered and keeping INS updated because they were promised amnesty if they did in light of the delays.
I'm a HUGE football fan, have been my entire life but I am SO ready for this game to be over.

Yesterday I received 2 emails from Ebay telling me about activities on Ebay using my credit card that I have for Ebay payment. I have closed that credit card, reported it as stolen. Today I received another email from Ebay telling me about activities using that credit card.
I also received emails from by customers telling me that they received email from this hacker asking for payment to be sent to his address in Italy but none of them believe of his emails because my customers already received email/invoice from me when the auction closed.
No respond from hotmail and his ISP provider, he still have access to his hotmail address. I also have filed a report with FBI. Not sure if they will take action to my report but I will file a report to all authorities that handle HACKERS.

Credit card fraud is the domain of the Treasury Department, specifically the Secret Service. You shouldn't have to do anything as your CC company will take care of it.
I know you have a loyal following but have you considered changing your eBay ID? It sounds like the few hours he had access to your stuff he got a lot of information about you and your customers.

What a nightmare! I don't know where it is going to end. I would be afraid to even list anything else under that ID if I were you.
check your computer for trojans. are you computer literate?
because in my opinion its pretty tough to get a person's password unless they have access to your computer. they know you, and can guess your password... or you have an obvious password and they somehow guessed it.
a good password is one that contains letters, numbers, and symbols, also having different captialization... but thats difficult to remember, but also more secure.
its also not a good idea to have the same password for say... your auctionwatch online forum and your paypal account, your ebay account, etc.
I seperate them via email, bank/money accounts, and online forums, chats, etc.
the chances of someone getting a person's password through ebay isn't impossible, but a capable hacker that can go through 128 bit encryption with ease and the protections that ebay setup wouldn't bother with scams like this, highly skilled hackers have better things to do, or rather, they aren't stupid to attempt poorly executed scams. and truthfully from what I gather they have their own code of conducts, a "real" hacker in the underground see themselves as people that want to obtain information, nothing more. (ie: they wont take those info and use it to run scams)
also, if you use the same password in other online accounts, that may explain things a bit. in either case check your computer, there are many capable trojans (hidden programs in your computer) that can record key typed, screen shots, etc.
norton anti-virus with the latest update will do, the trojans I know about and are easily accesible to the public can be find easily with norton.
I suggest doing a check when your computer is OFFLINE, so if someone is messing with your computer via a program, they can't stop your attempt to remove or scan for the trojan.
you may have accepted an email in the past or downloaded something, or I duno... but in either case that person may have snuck a program on your computer. are you on broadband? as in cable? is your computer networked?
I find that a lot of people behind cable modems have their network setup without any protection, not even a password to access their network/computer.
before you change your password, etc. you should be sure that your computer is clean.
even being offline woudlnt do much good, as a capable trojan will automatically send off information once you are online, and they also duplicate themself if you try to remove manually.
I wonder how much information did that person got off your ebay account, or possibly other accounts.
since he doesn't have access to your email... what sort of informations can you retrieve about yourself off ebay's website?
I also wonder how he obtain your credit card information, since you can't get that from ebay's site...
its very likely that he has a program on your computer, and as you type in your password, or credit card information, or anything... he obtained it.
becareful as identify theft might be involved too.
I duno about your current ID... I may use it once I know that the offender can't have access to it anymore... but that depends on how much information he got off of me, and if and when he will target me again.
lets see... he also has access to the address you posted on ebay. if thats your billing address thats probably how he made the credit card charges... in either case good thing u caught this in time to cancel everything.
looks like you got things covered pretty well... good job.
but yeah check your computer, thats what I would do.
if this is a security issue ebay is having... they sure aren't telilng us about it.
ummm. anyway, I can't think of anything more useful, I hope this helps a bit. good luck.

btw since you have information on the person...
you may want to check italy's local law enforcement or etc. to foward those information to...
I hope he gets caught, but unfortunately even though its not difficult or impossible to catch these people, the resources spend on the departments that handle these things are stretched thin...

Cap Yoda,
thanks so much long explanation.
My husband & I use the same password for a few accounts because we think it will help us easier to remember.
You are talking about Trojans, how can I check that? I'm not computer literate don't know about it.
We use DSL for our computer.

anandasmom - Do you know if this (I hate to call him a person) hacker received any orders for tickets? What a scumbag. You probably won't find out until after the Superbowl game and you get the negatives from those buyers. Also, do you know if the same person is doing the credit card thing?
I hope you can get this resolved.
The credit card I use on eBay and PayPal has a very low limit on it. $300.00. I also to protect my self have two checking accounts that are not connected. I send my PayPal money to my one checking account and then transfer to my major one. The bank assures me that they cannot transfer from one checking accout to the other. It's to bad we have to CYA to do an honest business.
posted on January 25, 2003 09:53:43 AM new
I do the same as Libra. I opened a seperate checking account at a different bank even. Wells Fargo charges no bank fees so I only keep a few hundred dollars in it, just for Paypal transfers. I never leave money in Paypal unless I have outstanding bids, and I always clear out the Wells Fargo account often, other than the $300 I keep in to cover anything unexpected.
This way my Ebay business is totally and completely seperate from our personal accounts...just in case anyone gets hold of any info they shouldn't have.

Yulia,
Not a problem. I was hoping you were computer literate but scanning for a "trojan" isn't too difficult.
DSL is more secure than cable, so thats a plus. a cable line is shared by a neighborhood or block, and sometimes accessing through them isn't too difficult.
Do you know anyone in your family that is computer literate? What Windows version are you running on? If you are running Windows, that is.
go to:
http://nct.digitalriver.com/fulfill/0001.69
and then get the virus definition update (so you can scan the latest virus/trojans) here:
the trailware allows you to use it for free for 30 days I believe.
you should install that, update the virus definition. then restart the computer and unplug your internet connection.
scan all your drives and see if anything shows up.
what sort of computer do you have? is it a very fast one? have you experience any weird slow downs, jerkyness when you access certain programs? or your computer restarts for no appearant reason?
a trojan is a hidden program loaded on your computer via different methods that grants the attacker administrative access to your computer. basically a good trojan allows the attacker to do anything to your computer that he wants as if he was infront of your computer with the keyboard.
if you really are infected with a trojan and the attacker is monitoring this... he may know that you're trying to scan for this program and may try to stop you (by restarting your computer, and worse erasing your hard drive...)
the best thing to do is find someone computer literate, tell them to install an anti-virus on your computer and scan for viruses and trojans. doing it OFFLINE is much better, if we're dealing with a trojan.
let me know what windows version you have and we can go from there I guess.
or consult someone near you...
hope this helps a bit more.
I would recommend downloading the anti-virus anyway since, although he can see what you're doing, he may not be there to stop you. as in, the trojan may send what you type and what you see to him, but he's off somewhere and wont be able to do anything about it.
or, download the anti-virus program on another computer (friend's, relative's) and burn the program and update onto a CD, you can also get an update at www.download.com just type in "norton" in the search area.
then load the program onto your computer when you have unplugged the internet connection.
if this isn't a trojan I really wonder how he obtain your password... ask your husband if he has used that particular password for any other online accounts.
I'm just hoping this isn't any sophiscated program and its the average trojans that the public have access to when they simply search on google or yahoo for it.

All those "sellers" are scam - they are not Italian citizens - they are probably Romanian citizens
their last names are Romanian 100%
DO NOT PAY THEM! If you already did than only thing you can do is to call police to connect with Italian police to get those guys arrested.

hi ..last week i had someone enter a bid at ebay ..with my user name and secret code word ..thanks be to allah it was not the winning bid ...after i found out i emailed the seller and ebay to let them know it wasn't me doing the bidding / then changing my secret password ...ebay sent me a notice saying that all users should change their password every 3 to 4 months and not to use any words in the dictionary ..or words such as names or birthdays ..the best that they recommend is a random combination of letters and numbers with some letters being capitals ...much harder for hackers to discover ...best regards...ralph
