I had an auction end a month ago. The winning bidder paid promptly and I shipped the same day. She received her audiobook 3 weeks ago and left positive feedback. Tonight I get an e-mail from her telling me the first tape was missing and would I send it to her. I don't know how I could have not seen that a tape was missing as I check each item one last time before it is packed and shipped. (I have looked for a loose tape, just in case I did overlook it, but there is no odd tape here.) Another thing I was wondering is how come it took her 3 weeks to realize the tape wasn't there? I had assumed she inspected her purchase, was happy and therefore left the positive feedback. Do people really wait 3 weeks before looking at what they bought? Leave positive feedback before they inspect their item? This is not a newbie...58 positive and 1 negative feedbacks. Gut feeling tells me something isn't quite right. But on the other hand, I can not say 100% that what she says isn't true. Would you do a refund?

Refund............... NO WAY.

The transaction is closed and deal is done.

For something that obvious, I would not even consider a refund. Now, if it was some kind of hidden damage, such as there was rap 'music', taped over a part of the 3rd tape. You know, something that you may not even notice, for a while. I might consider some kind of adjustment.

But right now you have got a, 'Gee, I did not notice that there was no back back door on the car I just bought from you Mr Saleman, I just thought there was real good ventilation in it' senerio.

No! This is way to long time wise to ask now. They had plenty of time to check and make sure everything was there.

Lets face it, how do you know that they did not misplace it around the house somewhere?

I would just tell them to look around for it.

I get the feeling that this person was listening to the tape and it somehow got damaged (eaten by the player). They probably are guessing that you sell a number of the same item, so by telling you that it is "missing" they might be able to get a replacement.

I wouldn't refund, mainly because I don't feel you did anything wrong. What can they do to you, since they've already paid and left feedback? Not buy from you anymore? If they are trying to scam you, you wouldn't want their business anymore anyway.
