I could use some input on how best to handle this.

Auction ended, 5 days later winning bidder sends me an email with her address. 20 days later, I get a money order with this same return address on it (well past my 10 day terms). I package her widgets and mail them Priority last Friday. I check the confirmation # with the post office yesterday, the package is being returned to me as undeliverable as addressed. I email the lady, she sends me this reply:

PLEASE RE SEND TO (snip name/address)--I AM VERY
SORRY THEY HAVE CHANGED OUR R.R. ADDRESS

Now, I'll be happy to resend....BUT I'm not paying the postage to resend the $8.00 widget to her correct address! I now have her first payment and her items.

Would someone jump in here and give me a polite response to her...so that I can wait another 25 days for her to mail me the postage to return this package to her correct address?

I feel my first neg coming on!

simply tell her that you filled your responsibility by sending to the address that your were given. Although you understand her confusion and the mistake you should not be held responsible for her mistake and will reship her item to the correct address once you receive the necesaary postage need to cover this reshipment.

That's very curious, usually when the Post Office changes the delivery address of a postal pattron, mail (including packages) are forwarded, for at least some period of time. The buyer should also, place a forward notice in place..............duh !

nanntique:
They don't always forward them.
One time I send bills to customers.
They were returned because I didn't include the +4 zip.
But they were nice enough to write the zip #'s on the envelope so I could send them back again.

As for mstwostepin:
I'd think about sending back C.O.D.

mstwostepin: I can top that. I had a bidder who didn't seem to know what her name was.

Her first name was either Kristal, Krystle, Crystal or Cristal, and she gave me two different last names to pair with the four first names.

When her package came back undeliverable, whats-her-name allowed as "Oh, that sometimes happens here, let me give you a different address."

Talk about someone living in the state of Confusion.

If you take it to your PO and explain what happened, they will sometimes forward it to the correct address without additional charge.

good luck with this one.

I just checked out her address info on Mapquest this morning. The first address that she gave me (package returned as non-deliverable as addressed) and the second address are 6.1 miles apart. I suppose that the post office would resend at no cost if it were just a simple rural route change. But, they'll never fall for the address moving 6.1 miles.

Also, when I checked Mapquest, there is a XXX St. and an XXX Cir. She only gave me the corrected address as XXX - no Cir. St. etc.

Guess I'll just hang on and see if she ever sends me the postage to resend the widgets. If I don't hear something in a few days, I'll mail her a refund (less shipping charges).
