What a surprise. My percentage of NPB and No Contacts are seriously on the rise. I would say I am up from 2 a week to 5-6 a week, perhaps more.

99% of those are newbies, and it is summertime, but.... I am beginning to wonder if Ebay is up to something. It is discerning that I am paying fees to Ebay and not getting my money out of it. They still make listing fees no matter what happens. Anyone believe this could be the case?

I still have no idea why ebay won't refund the insertion fee on an NPB? More NPBs would be filed with the insertion fee being refunded.

I have a hard time accepting the fact that deadbeats are on the rise, and yet Ebay makes money and we get screwed. What service did ebay provide to us? Nothing, really.

I can understand being charged if it doesn't sell, however, when someone bids and doesn't pay we get screwed out of the time and insertion fees.

I often wonder why ebay even requires a credit card for buyers. Since ebay now owns Paypal, each and every person registered should have a debit account through paypal. Then they can only bid what they have available in their account. Sellers would get paid from the account. This would stop the madness of newbies going crazy and bidding on 50 items in a day only to screw everyone over, and get NARU'd. We would see a significant decline in fake buyers. Sellers would be happy, Ebay would make insertion, plus FVF on every auction, shareholders would scream for joy!!!

It isn't hard to do. Paypal already requires confirmed shipping addresses to provide seller protection. They confirm the credit card account billing address. Paypal has done a stellar job of protecting themselves by instituting such programs. This should simply be applied to Ebay. No confirmed account, no money in your account, No bidding. Simple as that.

I doubt if that statement is correct because I get quite a few unverified addresses. I think about half of my buyers, at least the ones that pay through paypal don't have a verified address. Thank goodness quite a few of my buyers still send me checks or money orders.

I am also frustrated with slow payers this week.

had 3 of them email me on Thur...5 days after the auction close...to tell me they would take care of it after the holiday.

had one email me right after close of auction last Sunday and say he would pay after he returned from vacation on the 7th.

the others emailed that they would pay right away and have heard nothing since!

this has been my worst week ever.

before this I had a total of 8 deadbeats in over 2 years!

I thought they only required a credit card for buyers if they used a free email service.

All users paying with credit cards have confirmedaddresses. Those that have bank accounts are verified. The users that only have a bank account on file may not have a confirmed address.

This is because you have already used up "Bandwidth" and had your listing advertised. How many sellers get "offers" to buy after the sale is over?

Ebay does require new Hotmail and Yahoo registrants to provide a valid
credit card number on file.

Very recently I set up a separate (alternate) buying account using
a free email service and I had no
trouble at all registering. Ebay did
NOT require me to provide them with
any credit card information for this
free email account.

I did not use Hotmail or Yahoo when
I registered the new account. Instead,
I used a less well known free mail service.

Ebay requires a valid credit card number with any non-paid for ISP. They have had an incredible search engine function for years that screens out the hundreds of free email accounts that are available. To get a free AOL or most other ISP accounts you need a credit card or checking account number and must call them and cancel the account before the 45 days are over or it goes into automatic billing cycle. The problem is the average American adult holds about seven credit cards.
