Is there a particular name for the silver design on glass? I used to have a vase with a silver design on it but was stamped sterling and this has nothing. I don't know if this is even worth listing.

what a pretty dish. on the vase it would have been silver overlay but I am not sure if that would be what this is called.

It's called silver overlay on your pretty dish.

Hello Paws and all,

Here are some eBay auctions that might help out.

All three have the same pattern of silver overlay but I'm don't think they're from the same glass company.

The first one is Caprice, which was made by Cambridge. The second auction says the piece is from Silver City Glass Company.

I've seen that silver poppy pattern before but never in green.

Maybe the various glass companies used the same silver overlay outfit to decorate their pieces??

Hopefully some of our glass experts will drop down from the rafters and share their expertise!

I would run it. I would say green is rare. For .30 I'd take a chance!

Wow, I have that first one you linked, the one that didn't get bids. It is supposed to have a smaller dish that sets in the middle with same type overlay, like 'tiered' type setting.

I would think the green glass is more rare too

It looks more amber than green on my screen, though it does seem to have a greenish tint. It may be Viking Glass as they sold the blanks to Silver City Glass which decorated them with the silver overlay.

I usually get more locally for these pieces than I do on ebay. The red and cobalt colors are very pretty also.

Really a pretty piece and this olive green is a great colour now!!! BTW--did you know if you have any piece with this silver overlay and it is blackened--gentle use of silver polish or a silver polishing cloth will remove the tarnish, just like on a metal item. Just don't rub too hard and remove the silver!!
