I'd like to offer my buyers other means of payments...in addition to checks, money orders and PayPal. I've seen it offered in other auctions and I've heard good things about Bidpay for International bidders, but does it make sense to offer it for USA sales only? I only sell within the USA and don't know if many use it for payment if it isn't an International transaction. What are your thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

It can be used within the US and is convenient for credit card users since it is the only way you can use a credit card to get a money order - of course they also charge for that little convenience.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

My TOS states that I accept P/P, MO's, Cashiers Checks & BidPay.I too only sell in USA & it is very rare that BidPay is used. I do get a lot of P/P, at least 50% the rest split between Cashiers Checks & MO's. Many banks will issue a bank MO free if you have an account in that bank. I know my bank will as I purchased a mobile home & paid cash $36,000.00 in a bank check at no cost. BidPay costs the buyer around $5.00.

I've had a number of USA bidders use it -- especially since WESTERN UNION AUCTION PAYMENTS lowered their prices!

But, it is mainly for the INTERNATIONALs

I have some USA buyers use Bidpay especially those that live in remote areas and would have to drive a long distance to a bank. I don't think the fees are that high considering it covers the cost of the money order and the postage. Why not list it in your auctions it doesn't cost you anything. I copied the fees from their website.
Money Order Amount Fees

$10.00 and under $1.95

$10.01 to $30.00 $2.95

$30.01 to $50.00 $3.95

$50.01 to $100.00 $4.95

$100.01 to $700.00 2.25% + $4.95

I sell USA only, and don't accept Paypal. I do accept money orders, personal checks and Bidpay. Have used it for over a year now, and am getting maybe 5% of buyers using it. Probably because it's more convenient for them than writing and mailing a check or purchasing a money order.

You can also use Paying Fast,
www.payingfast.com it is set up pretty much like Western Union Auction Payments.
I have gotten several payments from both and have not has any problems with them....

The more options the better....
