Those could be a tough sell. Most states require a front and rear license plate so the wouldn't be legal in those states. Be patient with them as they might not get bidders right away.

...but EVERYONE in the states that DON'T have front plates NEEDS something to fill the plate holder. Seems like several southern states don't use front plates, keeps people from using one each on 2 cars.

Actually this is false. In states that do not use front license plates, the front plate holders are not installed on those vehicles. We have cars shipped from those states all the time or people moving from those states and I sell many license plate holders for those vehicles.

California has a law requiring front license plates. The only time it is enforced is during spring break in Palm Springs. A 30 minute drive on any highway in the state will reveal that one out of every ten cars is missing a front plate. Sanmar, you have a potential 3 million customers in California alone. I'd hop to it and get those plates listed.
The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.
Not true.
I wasn't postulating -I live in a state with no front plates and spent several years in the car biz. here, the cars come thru new with front plate holders - if you're getting them in another state without it's generally because the owner or wholesaler REMOVED them.
The 2 things every customer wants off their trade-in are their "custom" plate (if they have one) and if the car is a complete sled, the stereo/video which is worth more than the car.

I know that in Ohio, a front plate is required. We haven't had one for months since some moron backed up into the front of the Jeep. I have been behind police cars, have passed police cars and have to police in police cars. Not a think has been said about it. Now, if I can just get the idiot to pay for the repair. . . .

Sparkz is right. I too live in CA & it is amazing the number cars w/o a front plate. When you get your plates in CA, you are issued 2 plates. Its amazing how many front plates say something about the Raiders, 49ers, Lakers etc.

This is false. Most license plate brackets also require drilling holes into the bumper of the car. If they are being taken off, then the holes would already be there which they are not. When a car is delivered from the factory to the dealer, the license bracket is placed in the trunk or rear cargo area of the vehicle. Then only in states where they are required are they actually put on the cars. It is part of the PDI inspection that all dealers are required to do to all new vehicles. In non-license plate states, the PDI time is reduced so the Mechanics do not put them on.

If listing a dutch auction, you need to list a smaller quantity than you think will sell. Otherwise they will all go at the starting bid.
I would start with maybe an auction for 5 or so and see what happens. Then try them separate (regular 1 at a time) and see if it is worse)
Dutch auctions seem to work the best when bidders are likely to want more than one. (preferably want the entire quantity)
