When listing for auctions ending next Sunday, remember that daylight savings starts on Sun. April 4.

Twice a year it seems we have a discussion as to whether that means our auctions will end (in this case) an hour later or earlier??!!! or whether Ebay adjusts their clock. I do wish someone had The Answer.
Otherwise, what I"ll do is go into my auctions this week and add at the beginning of the description a suggestion to "Bid early - Daylight Savings begins Sunday, April 4."

eBay ads do NOT run exactly 7 days or 10 days or whatever. You get a cetain number of total HOURS of runtime.
For example, if you start an auction at 9pm it will end after the change at 10pm.

Well, then I guess I'm screwed! There isn't any way to fiddle with an ending time after the auction is up and running, is there? (Except to make it a 10-day instead of a 7-day?)

the point is, is that Ebay usually has a "glitch" everytime the time changes and sometimes people can't place a bid at the crucial moment.
so I wouldn't have auctions end that day personally.

So, What's the big deal?? You will get an extra hour in the Spring. You will lose it in the Fall. Think about it!!!

I agree with Sanmar...
Who cares??? Your auctions will run the full number of hours in 7 days or 10 days or whatever number of days. They'll end when they end and you'll either have bids or you won't!
Duhhh....

Lucy and Sanmar: Maybe I'm just too obsessive about the ending times for my auctions. All three of us are out here on the west coast. I've always thought (and I could be wrong here) that ending my auctions between 7 and 7:45 p.m. was a good idea because on the east coast it's already between 10 and 10:45 p.m., and I've feared I wouldn't get those east coast bids. I usually end them on Sunday nights too, and I know that people are preparing for the work week and may be a bit preoccupied later in the evening.
So. . . if my auctions will end between 8 and 9, this Sunday, it worries me. Maybe it shouldn't? Tell me what you think, please.

The effect daylight saving has on bidding is most likely minimal. Us easterns are apt to be out and about during our longer days. We might check in on old eBay later in the evening in the 9-12 time frame. I look at stuff in the am before I go work, place proxy bids and move on with my day!

Okay then, alldings! I'm going to see how mine do this Sunday night. I just have a few items up this week, and I can always relist them.

I always end my auctions on Sunday night, but I close them @11:30 PM. This gives more latitude for West coast, HI & AK. I have been doing this for 3 yrs. & have lots of sales to the East coast. 7 closed last night, all but one were east of the Miss. River.

Doesn't it make more sense to look at when people are bidding, rather than when auctions are closing?
Sure, some folks surf the wave of about-to-end auctions but if you're looking for something specific, say a particular china pattern, you would bid even if the auction end was 6 hours away.
