It seems lately, the number of Canadians asking me to lie on the customs form is approaching 100% - No, I won't stop shipping to Canada, too big of a market, but I have now included a reference to this in my shipping terms. I can't believe how many people must cheat on this up north. If the Canadian government needs money they should crack down on people who go around the import tariff. Seems everyone does!

in my auctions it states US sales only. when anyone outside the states emails for permission to bid, i almost always say yes. i tell them in the reply email that i fill out customs forms honestly. if they still bid, they know up front not to ask.

I used to do it for them but then I found out I would be the one in hot water so I stopped. But can't say I blame them, I once ended up paying the duty for someone and it was like $14.00 on a $20.00 - well really $50.00 as that was what I insured it for - thinking I was doing a good thing??

Canadians are getting good deals on their healthcare,so they have to pay for it somewhere, somehow.

I used to get asked all the time - and not just by Canadians - to mark the customs forms "gift" also. Ever since I added this to my WBN, no one asks
"INTERNATIONAL - Customs forms will be valued at your winning bid amount. A "gift" is not a "gift" if you pay for it; and I appreciate your respect in not asking me to falsify a government document."

I have never had any Canadian ask me to mark the customs for a gift. What I have done is put in my about me page the Canadian and International Guarantee and it is a clickable link from my TOS. In there if they read the guarantee and abide by it then they can bid on my auctions. It states I will not lie on customs forms. I have had no repercussions. With that clickable link it saves a lot of ask the seller a question.
CANADIAN AND INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS
I will happily sell to you but I want you to read my guarantee before bidding. I will not lie on Customs Forms. As insurance is not available for Canadian or International sales I can not guarantee delivery. Please take this into consideration when bidding. Postage to Canada is approximately the same as in the United States. All International Sales will go Air Letter Post unless buyer wishes Global Priority. if you abide by these Terms of Service please bid. Thanks

Hi all,
I let them know in my EOA letter, or in response to questions, payment needs to be in US dollars and customs forms will be filled out using their high bid as value of the merchandise. Haven't had any problems so far.
Registered Airmail Letter Post has $40.45 indemnity. Costs $7.50 additional.
Global Express includes $100 insurance. More than that doesn't cost much more, maybe a buck.
I just sent a package Global Express to England. My PO clerk wasn't sure how far it would be tracked. Interestingly, it showed it all the way to delivery to the buyer.
I don't think Global Express is available worldwide, though.

Weird. I get a lot of Canadians winning my books. And in 5 years, only a handful have asked to have the customs form marked "gift"...and of those, none kicked when I said no.

Hi Libra,
Yes, the same place you go for Delivery Confirmation.
If you email me a Question for Seller I'll send you the number from my package so you can see what happens.

Libra,
We use http://www.u-pic.com/ for international insurance. We only insure with a 3rd party when the item is not replaceable or has a value over $40-50 or so. Check them out.
