Neglus\' amazing postcard buyer\'s story warmed my heart and made me want to start a thread for us all to share touching info we\'ve gotten from buyers..
Man I LOVE it when buyers share their reasons for buying something. If it is special, it really makes it all worth our hard work.
Just the other day I got a note from a woman that bought a \"Hong Kong Phooey\" doll from me via eBay. Who would have thought that would have special meaning!
She wrote, \"Thank you so much [for the auction]. This was purchased for my brother who had cancer when he was 2 (back in 1970). His Hong Kong Phooey doll went to all his chemo appointments with him and then later it got lost through the years.
I bought this one for him because it has such a special place in his heart...\"
Wow, I felt honored to be a small part of that \"reunion\".

I sold a script last week for the film "The Day the Earth Stood Still." The buyer turned out to be the granddaughter of the man who played the robot, Gort. She was thrilled to get the script, even though it was a copy rather than an original, and wrote me during the auction & afterwards about her grandfather.

One of the cutest & nicest that I have received was about a year ago. A lady in Chapel Hill, NC bought some china, paid by P/P on Friday night. I packed & shipped on Saturday. She received it on Monday (From Santa Maria, CA), I received an email from her that day telling she couldn't believe how fast it arrived. Her question to me was, "Is the Postmater General your brother-ib-law?" Thought this was cute.

A couple of years ago I had a childrens' book, The WooLoo and Lita May. Couldn't find out ANYTHING about it, checked everywhere I could think. Must have been pretty obscure.
It turned out my high bidder had a friend visiting her from Hawaii and she was showing her how eBay works. Seems the friend had a 50-something daughter whose long-lost favorite book from when she was little was the one I was selling.
The friend gave her daughter the book for her birthday. A week or so later I received a very nice thank-you letter from the daughter telling me how pleased she was to have back this little piece of her past.
Interesting how the friend happened to be visiting and happened to see my auction.

I bought a nice set of china (by Shelley) - service for 8. I broke it up into lots (4 dinner plates, 4 cups & saucers, etc.). One lady bought several lots, she told me she was buying it for her mother to replace a set that had been stolen. She was obviously very happy and appreciative to have found it.

I had a recent letter from a new customer. She wrote to tell me that she loves my patterns and is buying this particular one to make for her new GREAT grandchild. She told me she crochets to keep herself out of trouble. GO GREAT-GRANDMA!
I also noticed one customer bidding on quite a number of my items. She was trying so hard to win some of the christening dresses but kept missing. Come to find out she's expecting TRIPLETS!

Here is an email in reply to a cookbook we sold.
Oh my goodness, when I saw the hand written recipe, I cried, it belonged to my
grandmother..Loreto Louise OBrien Rhoades...she went to the Shaw House for
teas...when she passed away in 1986 I inherited her recipe boxes, so I went to
those treasures, and saw more of her recipes written on that stationary. a
litlle history of her: she was born in 1892, graduated from Yates High School
in 1910 as valedectorain, went on to Harris womens college in st louis, married
my grandfather in 1916. They had 9 children, were far from poor, when my
grandfather died in 1948 she went back to teaching, and authored 2 books The
Wife of Yesteryear, and the Narrow Gate, she was a prominent artist, and passed
away in 1986 at the age of 95...I am so grateful Ibid on this...may God bless
you

There have been some nice people I have met along the way. I get a kick out of helping someone get a gift to a love one on time.
Just recently I started selling some "sports junk" for a friend. I call it junk because I can't believe what men will pay for stuff that looks like it belongs in the trash. Of course they cannot understand my desire for shoes and purses.
Anyway I just sold Brooklyn Dogers postcard. The guy who won was thrilled because his father was pictured on the card. I thought that was cool.

I recently sold a cookbook also. The book was purchased at the Library Sale but someone had it in their buying pile so I had to pass it up. Well before she checked out she put the book back and I bought it. I put it on eBay thinking I could maybe make a slight profit but it ended rather high as I had two bidders bidding against each other. Auction ended and my buyer wrote and told me her mother had had the same cookbook and she has been looking for it for quite a while. See things don't have to be old to have meaning to someone and I am happy that I can find things to make someone happy. Makes my day.

My heartwarming story is only loosly related to eBay. We were at a rummage sale at a food bank, and my husband was looking through the books as usual, I was looking for things to sell on eBay. He found a book with the name of a dear friend of ours. He lives 120 miles away, and is in his 90's. He had presented this book to a boy in his Sunday School class 68 years before! We bought it, and my husband called him, and he was so thrilled. He was depressed about losing his wife recently, and we sent the book, and he sent back the loveliest letter saying he had read the book, and it had been such a blessing to him. That was one item I would NOT have sold on eBay, but it was because of eBay that we found it, and gave this old man so much joy.
