I have no problem placing sizeable bids on quality products, assuming of course the shipping is reasonable. But it really irritates me when I see sellers who blatantly avoid fees by grossly inflating the shipping. Who do they think they’re trying to fool?

Don't be surprised, there are a number of one cent rip off artistes who think they actually have an ethical business.
Oh well, the nile, egypt, you know the cliche.
A real one cent auction has real shipping, not necessarily actual, but not fee avoidance.

It would be interesting if a local bid and insisted on pick up. $100 Shipping is ludicrous. I bet they get a ton of deadbeats that get the WBN see the shipping and say "hell no".

My opinion is if a seller is so blatant as to try to screw Ebay out of their FVF by grossly underpricing an item and inflating the shipping, what devious methods will they use to screw the customer?

All ya get is the bed spread and pillow shams? That's a good chunk of change at a retail store, but not $300.00, I dont think. Maybe 75-100 for the spread if you can get it on sale, and another 50 for the shams? I wonder if ebay allows this for their own experimentation? Maybe they are trying to collect data on how people bid?

neroter you beat me to it. The set doesn't include the dust ruffle. Seems to me you can get something quite comparable for less money. Remember all it does is hide in the bedroom.

Libra63: Good on you, nice link, their $69.99 price includes free shipping too!
Considering this seller is offering even larger sets with a starting bid of $40.00 and shipping cost only $25.99, sure seems like they are gouging on this one.

In all the auctions that I have seen, varying from clothing to tack to other odds and ends the "retail price" is invariably jacked up.
I did one auction for a bit and put the actual sale price in the Dover catalog. Why treati the bidder like a fool until he/she acts like one.

Jack...Yer a genius. THAT explains the $100.00 shipping charge. A cute blond will deliver it in person and demonstrate it's utility. Why didn't any of the rest of us figure that out??? Then again, I did say this in my post above << what devious methods will they use to screw the customer?>> Maybe I did have it figured out and didn't know it.

Not trying to get back to the subject, guys but, I have a question.
"Why would someone buy from that site to resale on E-Bay,its cheaper to buy wholesale."
I would love to find out how to buy wholesale. How do you find wholesalers...how do you know if someone is a wholesaler or just saying so and charging too much...
Really would like to know! Thanks!
edited to use manners and say THANKS!

It is the prospective buyers responsibility to read the "Dam Ad",... if you don't like the shipping price then don't freaking bid....it's as simple as that.
There's no hidden charges the listing clearly states shipping is $100.00...still a dam good deal considering this item can cost upwards of $200.00.

Yes it is the buyers responsibility to read the ad. Just as it is the sellers responsibility to list the ad properly in the first place. With shipping of $100 it is pretty obvious that they are cheapskates. They know they are breaking ebays rules, but listen to them squeal when their auctions get pulled. They should just pull their head out of their date and list properly to start with like almost everybody else. By the way the way folks keep listing these clowns up here so that we can avoid them. Just like warning each other about loony bidders it is a valuable service. Speaking of loonies. Teacher has your voice message friend popped up again yet? I hope not they sound scary. Good luck with that.

A few months ago I bought a sample size shower gel for 79 cents. I didn't pay attention to the shipping cost. When my invoice came, the shipping was $10. I was mad at myself for not looking. I should know better!

Hi Classicrock,
It must be an Aussie euphemism then. Here are some others, just apply whichever one you are most familiar with.

I think date is used because on some specimens it is brown and wrinkly.
