Hi everyone. I have 2 questions. Where do you do a search of past subjects that have been discussed here? Is there another program like Gator that is better because Gator always shows up as spyware and adware when I run Spybot? I do believe that a lot of the ads that appear on my lower task bar come from Gator. Thanks.

There is no free ware that will not do exactly like Gator. Fugetahotit. Ain't going to happen.

Why do you want a program similar to Gator? I certainly hope it's not for storing passwords so you can save time logging on to various sites. You can just post all your usernames and passwords in plain text in this thread, and refer to it if you ever forget one. It's much more secure than Gator. Be advised that to get Gator off your computer, you will need to edit at least 15 entries in your Windows registry. One mistake and you're looking at reformating your hard drive and starting over from scratch. Let Spybot S&D remove it for you. And the sooner you do it, the better. You are better off with a virus than you are with that program. It's really nasty.

Freeware programs like Gator, which I used for while, until it crashed my computer, need to make money some place so they let in the spammers that pay them and delete the ones that don't. A version of the old Mafia protection racket! sparkz is correct cause that is excatly what happened to my system.

The folks at PC PITSTOP have a real thing about Gator & have waged a campaign against this TERRIBLE "program" to the point of legal battles:

Thank you everyone for the info on Gator. I am going to get rid of it using Spybot. I brought this back to the top cause I still need an answer to my other question. How can I do a search for old threads on subjects discussed here?
