then it must be ebay, right? WRONG!

I have come to the realization that eBay is helping scammers who send us fake "sign into your ebay account" emails.

As many and probably most of us know, ebay has had many problems with proper scheduling of our payments to them. They send out a notice that says it will happen 5-7 days from now, and then the waiting game begins. Ebay has yet to properly charge my account on a normal schedule for almost 6 months now. the most recent months have been the worse, to the point where it caused confusion in my bookkeeping and I ended up being charged a funds transfer fee from my bank because I thought they already charged my account weeks prior. Lesson learned, and now I have forced ebay to charge my Paypal account instead of bank account. Now, if the money isn't there in my PP account, they will notify me, and I will simply make payment by my own means. No fees, no problems.

So, I changed my payment info over to my PP Visa Card 3 weeks ago, and have been barraged with fake emails telling me that my CC account info is incorrect. These emails are getting so good, that when you go to see the origination address in Properties of the email, it looks real. Nothing fishy. I then log into my account through ebay's homepage, not by a link in the email, and everything is perfectly fine, except of course, it has been almost two months and I haven't been charged yet. If they don't run it by this weekend, I will go and pay last months statement manually.

the problem is that with all of these delays, it is much easier for a scammer to fool us. we know ebay have had multiple problems for 6+ months now with their payment system, so it is only logical for us to think there could very well be a problem. we then become easy targets for these scammers thanks to ebay's inconsistency.
