There were a few discussions here recently about people hoarding too much stuff. Here is an article I found on Yahoo news about freecycling some of it online. Perhaps if it's something that you don't want to sell on ebay, it may be of use to someone else who will be happy to have it.
In an era of Internet scams, widespread computer viruses and illegal music downloads, freecycling is bringing priceless good deeds to the Web by the thousands. The stories freecyclers tell are evidence.

Yeah, the freecycle.org site became very popular for a bit and the server became unavailable.
[I'm a group mod for a group in my state, so I checked the global mod group.]
I got a dresser and a couch and loveset from local freecyclers. I'm still in the midst of sorting through stuff, so I still retain my offering virginity.
Just an FYI, the freecycle community really looks down on those who use freecyle as a way to obtain resale items. It varies from group to group, some outright prohibit and others require disclosure when requesting an item. Mine has a "Don't Ask, Don't Tell".

I am a member with Freecycle and I have gave away a many good items. I have finally been able to get a beautiful kitchen table. When they come in you have to grab fast or they are gone.
