I'm not sure how much I believe it, but my teenage son's friend (who is a really GOOD ebay seller ... at least I am always impressed with his sourcing and sales) just told him thru IM'ing, that Paypal just deposited/credited into his paypal account, the $ from the past Tuesday offer of 'crediting your paypal fees' for that day, due to their sorry downtime earlier this month ... he "said", supposedly in shock, that they credited him with almost $1,500 ... and he "said" he was withdrawing it right away. *I* told him, 'well, don't spend it' lol ...

trick? or ... treat?

I doubt PayPal has credited anyone a penny for "their sorry downtime earlier this month"

Sounds like a trick to me.
Things like that do happen though.

Paypay sent me a letter stating they would reimburse Paypal fees for Oct 28th. (Of course, no one paid using paypay that day, so it did me no good..)

I'm a silver, and I did receive an email from Paypal stating they would reimburse me for that day. I think it said they would reimburse it by mid November. Big deal, I may get 50 cents if I'm lucky.

We got the letter from PayPal. As luck would have it, we received (among other payments) $1050 for a bike during the 12 hour period. So, that's around $30 credit right there; anything else is gravy

Uh, forgot our new 2.2% rate, so make that $22.
