Myoldtoy,

Don't you sometimes use little boxes that look like little post-it notes in your photos to point things out?

How do you do that?

I just found a cigar box full of spare fittings/castings for the old Marine Model shipbuilding kits my father used to sell when he was in the hobby business in the 1940's.

I sold the complete kits we still had a year ago, and I'm going back and forth with one of my winning bidders who's an expert in Marine Model fittings to identify some of these parts.

That kind of tech would be helpful with the pix I'm sending him of groups of metal pieces.

An easy way to do it using Irfanview is to create a small selection area with your mouse, like you were going to crop the photo, then click on Edit, and scroll down to Insert Text Into Selection. Type your text, choose your font, size, background color etc and click OK. Yuur text will appear inside the box. Just be sure to create your text box where you want it, because you can't move it once it's there.

Hello rozrr..
i use windows paint program...for convenience, i keep shortcut on desktop...then while editing an image, in any program, open paint and add message, save, and go back to your next image job, etc.
----------
to use paint....
1. open paint...click on "File", "open." this should open your image files..i use "My Pictures and Kodak Pictures"... open desired image and will appear on the paint pallet.

2. from side bar, click "text" icon[A]. then move mouse to position on image you where you would like to make a post...

3. by clicking and moving mouse, a perforated line box will open as large as you would like; again just by moving mouse....and, the box is not a "set" size, it will expand by itself if you have to type more than seems to fit..

4. if you want to save changes, paint will prompt you to save before you exit, or you can go back to File, and save....

5.if need to edit message, or start over, "undo" may seem not to work...just click on text icon again, that will reactivate box and remove it all. then you can start over easily with image still on pallet...

6. you can change size of font from tool bar, if you want the box to be larger, etc.

sorry i didnt get back to you sooner, but i dont get chance to come by as often as i wish..

if i can be more help, my email is;
[email protected]

GOOOOOOD LUCK...myoldtoy

Traders. Myoldtoy -

Thanks for the very helpful responses.

Toy - I've been off-line for a couple of days myself. My landlord installed new windows in my apartment this week - had to move all of my "ebay boxes" to a vacant apartment next door and back again.
