I can already see that I need to stock up on rum and eggnog and have a few stiff ones before I open my E-mails....This morning I have the lovely lady who buys audio books for the Library e-mail me that she had just bought 36 of my audio books and that I should be able to ship them Media Mail for $12.00 including insurance. I charge a $1.00 extra for shipping on each addition item on most of my listings, and as far as I'm concerned that is my combined shipping rate-period. Then I get the clueless mom who buys a set of Spiderman Bedding pays through Paypal, I put it in the mail. This afternoon she e-mails...Sorry I need to cancel my order,my mom already bought one. Can't wait to see what the rest of the month holds!

OMG!! Did she pay with P/P? You may have sellers protection on that one if you have a shipping receipt. On the first order, don't you think with that volume, you can make an adjustment. It certainly isn't going to cost anywhere $36.00 to ship Media Mail. Bend a little & save a good customer.

Maybe bend a little, but it seems to me everyone balances out their pricing their own way. You don't know if the $1.00 combining fee is about recouping listing fees, etc. with the item price super low. Besides, the lady should have asked prior to buying the items, shouldn't she?

The books she bought were dirt cheap a lot of them only 98 cents.

I wouldn't budge then! You can be nice about it, but explain to her why you can sell your items so low, or whatever.
Frankly, I can understand why sellers put the shipping a little higher than actual, but I don't think $1.00 is so outrageous. I recently bought a kids book for $.01 and then paid $3.00 shipping and handling. Of course, there are some sellers that are rediculous about it. Like I'm going to pay $20.00 shipping and $1.00 for the item...especially if its an electronic item. It doesn't work and you get a $1 refund!

I really do like to be as flexible as I can, but as a seller, I simply do not like being told what shipping costs are. They can try to negotiate a lower price before they purchase an item, but once they purchased it with the shipping indicated (my price for additional items is clearly stated like yours was) that is the price they are going to pay - It simply isn't really worth your time to sell items for 98 cents, charge exact shipping and then have to pay fees on everything. I would stick to the price quoted in the auction for shipping and tell her that at the price she wants, there is no profit in the deal and it can't be done.

MAH645 -- YOU and ONLY YOU set your prices. Not the customer. If she wants combined shipping, you figure what you'll do it for and let her know.

Thats what I don't understand about this, $1.00 extra on each audio book IS my combined shipping rate as stated in all the auctions. These 36 audio books retail for an average of $25.00 a piece. She bought them all for under $100.00. I feel if she doesn't want to pay the $37.50 shipping that I will keep them and rerun them as I already lost most of the money on the shipping by her buying that many. If I sold them individually the shipping alone would have been $112.50.

Don't feel bad, a man is calling to negotiate $2.23 in shipping. Calling. Twice.
I just do not get it. I am not gouging, I am using Priority mail. But, whatever!

I've been checking on the happy librarians feedback. She leaves lots of neutrals. It shows she has received over 400 feedbacks yet only 208 are showing but no negetives. I get the impression based on what I saw she probably has a store somewhere and is reselling the items she buys on E-bay. She buys large amounts from as many sellers as possible and thanks them for reducing the shipping in the feedback. This transaction is starting to smell like a skunk. She e-mailed me again telling how much the books weigh and the shipping amount I should be charging her. I got a funny feeling I'm going to have to call e-bay on this one.

I suspect you are right.
It seems to me that when I ship to libraries, they always ask that I ship to them via "Libary Mail". Libraries, museums, and schools are eligible for this rate. The package has to be addressed to the library and not to an individual.
Tell her you will ship it to her library and you will ship it LIBRARY MAIL and not MEDIA MAIL. If she provides a legit library address, perhaps you could write off the loss as a tax-deductible donation.

She plans on paying through Paypal,if she pays that is. If I shipped to a Library it would have to be to a comfirmed address only or I won't do it. She is going to want them shipped to her home address with is what makes me think shes pulling one. I wish I could back out of this transaction period,I don't trust this Lady.

MAH offering Library Mail would be calling her bluff. Libraries are great to deal with (accept sometimes they want a purchase order........yuk!), which is another reason it seems she is not being honest with you.
As for confirmed addresses here's what PayPal says (not that "seller protection policy" means anything anyway):
Address confirmation is useful because it provides a way for a seller to verify a buyer's identity. Shipment to a confirmed address, however, is not necessarily a requirement for coverage under the Seller Protection Policy since not all PayPal users are able to confirm their addresses. An Unconfirmed Address is not necessarily fraudulent but sometimes poses an inconvenience for legitimate buyers. If a transaction is eligible for coverage under the Seller Protection Policy, a seller must ship to the address found on the Transaction Details page (regardless of whether that address is confirmed or not). For transactions that are ineligible for coverage under the Seller Protection Policy, we recommend that a seller ship to a buyer's Confirmed Address.

This woman is big on leaving neutrals or negatives when things don't go her way. I think I will offer her the Library rate with a Library address to see what she does.
