Morning All,
Well, I have my Ebay store & Vendio gallery up and running and I am pleased with the overall effect. However, when I did a search for an item, it didn't show up period. I emailed Ebay customer service where they somewhat blew me off stating I had to cross promote. BS!
But when I am doing a search, I see other people's store pop up at the bottom of the search screen. Does anyone have the secret?
Neglus, do your postcard come up in the primary search? (I hope that you read this)
I really need to address this little issue to try to generate more sales. So far, I have sold 2 items in the new store which has been open for about 2 weeks.

Yer STORE items do NOT show in an eBay SEARCH, unless there are less than 10 -- tis why the STORE insertion fee is so small, but, nevertheless, a REAL BARGAIN...
THUS:
It is imcumbent upon YOU to drive folks to yer FEEbAy STORE...
I do this in a vertible PLETHORA of ways:
1) EVERY listing of mine has a BIG HUGE LINK that says: "For more great bargains in HERBAL VIAGRA, Click this link and visit Ralphie's NEW eBay Store"
That link will magically transport the sucker (whoops! I mean BUYER) to the DEPTARTMENT in my STORE most closely allied with the product being viewed...
2) EVERY email I send out has a LINK to "RALPHIE'S ECCLECTIC GARDEN of EARTHLY DELIGHTS"
3) EBAY KEYWORDS -- I use it & you get varying degrees of support from feeBay depending on yer STORE LEVEL...
The above ideas work together synergistically in such a manner that Ralphie's SANTA list has gone from: "Please, SIR...MORE?" to a vertible small pet-store load of goodies, doodads, and CHEWIES!

Hi Mama - Store postcards (or any other store items) do not appear in regular search results unless the search yields less than 10 items. I run lots of auctions with links to my store to generate store traffic.
The cross-promotion suggestion by ebay CS is a good one - read the ebay store board (ebay community discussion board) for ideas. I think the best way to cross promote is to run LOTS of auctions with PROMINENT CLICKABLE links to your store.
Are you selling postcards?

You really can't rely on ebay to get you traffic, since as others say it only appears when there are 10 or fewer results. It comes down to you to promote the heck out of your store. I've done it pretty well, I am averaging 1000 sales a month from my store. Running auctions help, with links back to your store. I run an opt-in email list that lets people know when there are new items added. I run special offers for those on the list. I am continually promoting the store to new customers. I am even thinking of running some kind of loyalty program and possibly referal program as well for friends. There are lots of options, good luck! It's all up to you!

I run my own list, I know ebay is working on creating something and I may switch to that. Right now, it is a list I manage from my address book via eudora, but I am pretty close to setting it up as a majordomo list that I can run through my server (I have a lot of mailing list management experience over the years) I have a website associated with this ebay business. I have a signup sheet at the site. Every email confirmation message I send asks people to sign up. I send an extra sheet with their order asking them to sign up. People are probably tired of me asking, but once they are on the list, it can make a difference. When I add new items to the store, I send out a message to my list telling them that has been done. I will sometimes offer specials, i.e. buy 10 items, get 1 free. I recently offered free microwave popcorn with the purchase of 10 or more items - The popcorn came from my son's cubscout fundraiser so that was a cheap way to get something extra to my customers, and I received quite a few responses that they liked that offer. I once had a customer who runs a couponing website and mailing list, and she gave me some free promotion to people on her list that pulled in quite a few orders.

EBAY VET - are you using the new ebay newsletter that comes with the store subscription? I have had a few people sign up but haven't had time to put one together yet. I drafted one when it first came out but I couldn't find a way to see and edit it (I had no subscribers at the time).
There must be a growing acceptance of stores from the ebay community - I can't believe the volume of sales I have been having as compared to last year at this time! Most of them have been store sales .

Tom can design a button - here is the code I use for a search link. The buyer sees "click here to see my other xxxx postcards".
<a href="DO A SEARCH OF WHAT YOU WANT TO PROMOTE IN YOUR STORE AND PASTE THE URL HERE- DON"T FORGET THE QUOTES AT EACH END">CLICK HERE TO SEE MY OTHER XXX ITEMS!
In other words:
The code is <a href="YOUR URL HERE">Click here to see...</a>
OOPS I FORGOT the </a> SORRY
TO get the URL, go to your store and put a word in the search box and then paste the url of the search between the quotes in the code above.

I need to give their list a try to see if it works better for me. If it has a direct link to the newest items that would be great! I just found out yesterday that I can actually go on vacation from my ebay store lol
