I've been behind on this since they changed the stores concept.
After reading, is this too good to be true? All this junk I keep sitting around waiting for a good time to list I could have just stuck in an ebay store for whenever my buyer was in the ebay'hood?
So I can list an item for $49 and only pay $0.03 for the listing? I just paid a lot more than that for a 5-day listing. WOW!

One point that needs to be made is that you have to run AUCTIONS to drive business to your store. It isn't enough to just stick an item in a store and think you will get bidders to come. You have to promote your store shamelessly in your auctions..THEN they will come.

But items still show up in searches *IF* less than 10 items are returned -- so that's cool.
We need to form an alliance of five or so people so that we promote each others' stores in our listings... Sort of a "May we recommend these fine ebay stores!" sort of thing. That way we get constantly promoted while we're not listing stuff and share the traffic.

I've been selling a small amount in the stores.
And sales have been the same even when I have NO auctions running.

Auctions don't seem to matter on my store listings either. I usually sell something everyday.

Just remember the search results are in lowest priced first order. Always some idiot selling for less than a buck.

If you list most of your inventory in your Ebay Store, then, what do you do when & if Ebay has a Free Listing Day for auctions. Or even a half-priced listing for auctions?

You could end them all (Vrane.com has a free tool called "auction bomb" that will end all of your listings), change the format (this could be laborious) and relist. I don't plan on doing it but I know someone who does.
I haven't tried Vendio Inventory EDition because the things I sell are one of kind and it seems more of a hassle to try to adapt to Inventory EDition than using Merchandising EDition.
Does anyone use I.E. ?is there a bulk relister that lets you change format without editing each item?

I use IE. You can change 50 at a time. It would work well for you even with one of a kind items. For the most part you have the same item, just different variants. It would save you tons of time on listing.
They have worked out most of the bugs. There is a little thing with the gallery picture I wish they would change but other than that I am happy with it.
One thing I think you would like is being able to group your inventory into categories and sub-categories. I don't know how many levels but I use 3 on some things.

When you set up an item you can set it up to be listed in all the formats. That way you can end your store items, then go into inventory and list them all as auctions. If they don't sell as auctions, then list them again as store items. You wouldn't have to change anything in the setup.
I have all my items set up to be listed as auctions and store items (Vendio and eBay). Even though I don't list them all as auctions. Some are listed as both to bring in traffic. On FLD, all I have to do is go into inventory click the check all button. Choose eBay auction and then launch.

Depending on your auction service, you can just simply launch your item as either an auction, store listing, or fixed price. with my service, I enter the details of the item to be sold and fill in the blanks "starting bid" and "buy it now price". I then launch the item as any of the following:
1) Straight auction
2) Auction w/buy it now
3) Fixed price
4) Store listing
I've never understood why some systems make you create a whole different listing for each type of auction... Why? That's just ASKING for an inventory goof somewhere down the line.

Sending multiple eBay Store Auction listings to Ebay Auction format
In "My eBay", go to the Format dropdown menu, select "Store Inventory", and click Go. Only your Store Inventory listings will be shown in the list.
2. Select the listings you want to send by clicking the checkbox next to each listing.
3. Click on the Send to "Online Auction" button at the top of the view.
You can format the auctions as you would any regular eBay auction, Number of days listed, Gallery,Buy It Now,eg.
I may not have made it clear, but that is the way Vendio IE is. You set up one items and all those options are there. You can list that item any way you want.

GTootie: Can i switch back and forth between Merchandising edition for listing and Inventory edition for relisting? I don't want to lose the 70 "model" listings I currently have in pending.

replay - Vendio works the same way. The problem comes with relisting. There is no bulk-relister in the Merchandising edition that lets you switch formats without editing the individual item even though the data is all there. Not only that but the bulk relister they do have is too wide for the screen so you have to scroll over to hit the edit button ...STUPID STUPID but they don't seem to want to change it!

You won't be able to switch back and forth. You can go back to Merchandising but you will be at the point you were before you went to inventory.
I have dozens of profiles set up and used some auctions in pending for new items. I lost them all when I switched. But it didn't matter because I no longer needed them.
If I add a Christmas Ornament in a new breed of dog. I go into that category Tiny Ones: Christmas Ornaments: Dogs. I simply pick an existing item set up the way I want the new one. For me that would be any of the ornaments. Then copy it. You can make as many copies as you want at a time. Once it is copied I go into edit. Change the quantity available (auto 0), picture, title, gallery picture and in my case auction category. Then hit save. I can then launch it as an auction or store item or both. If there is still some available they will show up in my Vendio Store.
If you need to change anything else, like the price or description, you can do it in edit while you're changing the rest. All of your defaults are already set. I would think a lot of yours would be the same on all your items. Like size and postage.
You change change everything 5o at a time. Like if you wanted a new template. Mark the ones you want to change, hit edit, make the change on the first one and click the little arrow. They are all changed. This is where I have the problem with the gallery. If you want to turn it on or off on all of them, you will change all the pictures to the one you are copying from. That need to be separate.

hmmm..maybe it would work but don't have time to learn it! maybe after xmas but I guess that's not in time for FLD (if they have one) Was hoping to switch all the unsold FP items (about 1,000) from the 11/30 and 12/15 half priced days to auction format again...plus relist my unsolds that weren't listed in the FP sales.
If I switch to Inventory Edition will I be able to relist my auctions listed under the Merchandising edition (no profiles)? I guess I could switch, launch for FLD and then learn how to use Inventory edition. Just to be on safe side I might keep a copy of my Model listings in case I want to go back to Merchandising Edition.

On some of these questions, I may not be the best on to ask. I switched at the very first when all the bugs weren't worked out yet.
On the unsold auctions, I could not relist any of the ones that were set to auto relist. After a few weeks, I don't remember how many, I tried again and was able to.
When I switched, all the info didn't transfer over. It was a huge job to get everything right, but once I did it was worth it. But that wasn't at Christmas and just before FLD.
I'm not sure but I think if you switch and then switch back your profiles and pending auctions will still be there. They are just not available in IE.
It's not hard to learn. Mostly just common sense. If you understand Merchandising, Inventory will be a snap. I'm not sure I would switch now, unless you have plenty of time in case you do have to make some corrections. But on the other hand, if you are going to spend a lot of time getting ready for FLD, you might as well do it once and get it over with.
